Old habits die hard.  And that's precisely why Mary Anne showed up at Peter's house with DVDs in hand.

"I think there's a scratch in 27 Dresses, but it still makes the cut as one of the best movies to come out of the 2000s, as well as the fact that James Marsden looks so good in it," Mary Anne dropped her stack of DVDs on Peter's bed, the DVDs faltering to uneven places on his covers.  Mary Anne and Peter looked down at all the options.  She placed her hands on her hips, donning low rise jeans and a white lace long sleeve with flared sleeves.  It was the most she had dressed up all week, but she wished she had dressed in something comfier.

"These are all rom-coms," Peter noted, picking Legally Blonde from the stack as his eyes glanced over the back where the description was.  He chuckled quietly with the shake of his head.

"We need something funny," Mary Anne clarified.  "I've been doing nothing but sitting around watching bad horror movies and whatever's on cable."

     Peter nodded.  "Yeah, you're right."

Mary looked to him.  "What do you wanna watch first?"

"I... I don't know," Peter awkwardly shrugged.  "You pick."

Mary tilted her head, looking over her options.  "I kind of want to watch 13 Going On 30.  Is that a good pick?"

Peter nodded eagerly, continuously.  "Yeah that's good.  You loved that movie growing up."

"I really loved her dress," Mary sighed, almost dreamily.  "And the ending of course, where she tells him how she feels."

"But it's too late," Peter plops down on his bed, collecting the movies to form a stack on his nightstand as he talks.  "He's already going to get married to someone else."

Mary Anne shakes her head.  "Yeah, but not really though.  When she goes back to being thirteen, she finally realizes how she feels about him, and that he was right there all along."

"Then why are we going to watch it, if we know how it ends?" he questioned.

Mary sighed heavily, rolling her shoulders as she stretches her back.  "Because it's one of the best movies ever made.  Just shut up."

And he does, smiling at her the whole time they watch the movie.  Their evening is peaceful, a moment in time that remains still, as every moment between the two should be.  Old habits die hard, and that's why they end up scooching closer and closer together until they are holding hands under the covers like they are twelve years old again.

Rubbing his thumb over hers, Peter conjures up the courage to speak first.  "The world makes more sense when you're here, Mary."

She hums.  "I think that's the first time you haven't called me by my full name."
