"Bill! I remember everything now! Thank you..." She kisses me, and I feel sparks. There is nothing better than getting the love of your life back. I lift her in my arms bridal style and kiss her back.
"C'mon, let's get out of here."
"Wait..where's Dipper and Grunkle Stan? I want to tell them I'm sorry, for everything." She looks up at me and a pang of guilt shoots through my body. Mabel notices my guilty expression and jumps out of my arms. She looks down at the ground. I can't bear to see her in any more pain. 'I'm sorry Shooting Star,' I think, 'I'm so sorry.'
"Bill, it's okay. You can tell me the truth." Just as she finishes her sentence, I see Dipper out of the corner of my eye, running down the hallway at break neck speed.
Speak of the devil.
"MABEL!!!" He yells with relief and excitement. Mabel whirls around and her eyes widen. So this must be what it's like to have a family. All the love in the world, free of cost. I smile to myself as I watch the twins rejoice. It's been years since they've really been together again, and they're so much older. 19 years old...I once again feel guilt wash over me. Was I the one who caused them to loose their years to the dreamscape? I begin to feel hot tears stain my cheeks. I try to bite my lip to stop them from coming, but it doesn't work.
"I'm sorry... Mabel, love. I'm sorry Dipper..." I mutter. Mabel walks over to me and takes my head in her hands, using her thumbs to wipe away tears. God, I love her so much it hurts. "Bill, there is absolutely nothing in this world that you need to be sorry for. We're going to have an amazing life together," she says, with hope gleaming in her eyes. Hope for a new beginning. Will I be able to give her that, even after all that I have done in my past? She notices my worried expression and surprises me by engulfing me in a bear hug.
"I love you so much!" She exclaims. Her grip tightens around me as I struggle for breath. So this is why Mabel's famous for her hugs.
"...Can't... Breathe..." I stutter.
Mabel chuckles and lets go of me.
"Haha, sorry Billie-pie. I just couldn't resist." She winks at me with a smile.
"Did you just call me Billie-pie?" I ask in complete and utter confusion.
"Mayyybeee..." She blushes profusely and takes me by the hand, swinging it as she bats her thick, brown eyelashes. I'm so lucky to call her mine.
"I love it. It's stupid and adorable, and..."
"And will you two stop flirting? We've got other important things to do. Like get our Great Unkle back!" Dipper shakes his head and Mabel tightens her grip around my hand for reassurance.
"What happened to Grunkle Stan?" She asks, worry beginning to creep into her tone.
"He...he sacrificed himself to bring Bill out of the cosmos. He told me that he would take Bill's place, because he knew he was the only one that could help you, Mabel," Dipper pauses, deep in thought. Everyone is completely silent and solemn, thinking of a way to get Stan back. This time, it's me who breaks the silence.
"I know we'll find a way Pine Tree. I'll do everything in my power to help the both of you. C'mere."
I pull them both in for a hug, and we stay there for a while, relishing in this moment. Never in my dreams did I think I would ever be here, capable of loving.
This is a brand new beginning, a different kind of life.
And I love it.
