Chapter 3 - Steven Rogers
Rachel is awesome. During the car ride she tells me more about S.H.I.E.L.D and the dark man in the square named Director Fury. Apparently we are going to Fury's office for Rachel to get her assignment.
The world is so different so far. The cars, the lights, the people. Nothing is familiar, I can't even tell what allies I was beat up in. I know it's sad, but I was a little guy. When the car finally turns the corner into the lot where we would park, I realize yet again how strange the world is.
"Okay, this is what we are going to do." Rachel says. "We are going to go up to level 48. We are going into Fury's office and I am going to get my mission. I am sorry I am dragging you around but I think my mission might have something to do with you."
Me? What would I have to do with Rachel?
We get out of the car and get into the elevator. We get up to the floor and walk into Fury's office.
We are going into the office now. Even though I have been working here since I was 18, I still get jitters when I walk into the Director's office. He is sitting behind his desk, going through a file.
"Stark, your mission. You will be rehabilitating Rogers. Introducing him into our world. Getting him ready for his own missions. Teaching him about the new tech. The empty apartment next to yours will be Rogers' so you can reach each other 24/7. Thanks Stark that will be all." Fury says.
O my. O my. I thought I saw this coming but, wow. I am going to be helping Captain America. This is so exciting! And going to be hard.
I turned around to look at Steve. He still had a serious face on. I start to walk over to him with my head down. And when I finally look up to his face I see a wide smile there. I lead him out of my room and lead him back into the garage to my car. My car is a sleek black sports car with the doors that open up towards the sky. We get in to the car and I rev the engine. I start driving down to the apartment.
"So Steve, do you have any stuff that you know that you have?" I ask him. I can even hear the sympathy in my voice.
"Nope, I am pretty sure my house was cleaned out and all my stuff from the army base was burned so, no." he says. I pull the car over and look him straight in the eye.
"Steve, look at me. I know I didn't do any of this to you and that I had no part in anything but I am sorry. I am truly sorry. I can't even imagine the pain that you are going through. And I just want you to know I am not on this mission for the money or for the corporation. I am doing this for you. And I know it sounds weird but it's true." I finished. I am in to big speeches as you can tell. Steve looks back at me and smiles.
"Rachel, thank you. I don't think I can say this enough to you. Thank you. You probably saved my life while I was asleep. And I am going to say it one more time. Thank you." He says.
"Well, you're welcome. And just so you know, you are worth saving."
A/N: I loved writing this chapter! Sorry it is so short! Thanks so much for reading!
