POINT OF VIEW
JENNIEI never imagined my life turning into an actual hellhole, fighting with different demons around me. I admit it was fun at first, I thought it wouldn't get any worse until it did and I regret everything. I lost a lot, my life, my father, dignity and more.
I haven't even found out the truth yet, I do want to stop it and leave everything in the past but something tells me I just can't.
For some reason.
I was never that person who will seek for revenge or make someone pay. Everything just happened so suddenly, I changed and my will changed and I hate myself for it. I was selfish, I don't want to lose more people because of me. I have already lost her. I can't lose more.
It's been...a month.
One month since I heard that last gunshot, that haunted me in my sleep during the nights. Those eyes that I kept seeing in my dreams, the words she said that kept ringing in my ears.
"I'm saying that I love you, Jennie."
Love.
What a silly word.
I always thought she was somebody who doesn't know that word, someone who never felt it. Until now, I'm still debating with myself if what she said was true or just a phase. Something to distract me, but I...don't know. I can't tell. She sounded sincere yet so doubtful when she said it, like she wanted to say it and doesn't want to at the same time.
If she loves me so much then why did she kill herself? Why did she shoot herself?
She must be-
"Jennie?"
I was knocked out of my thoughts by a voice calling my name. I turn to see Taehyung, waving a hand in front of my face. "Oh, sorry. I was just thinking." I excused and drinks the cup of coffee sitting on the table between us.
He looks at me with worried face, "You've been thinking a lot these days. Is something bothering you?" he asks.
I gave him a small smile, "No, not really. Just thinking about work, that's all."
"Are you sure?"
I just nod.
He shrugs and clears his throat, "How is it been? I heard you're getting promoted," He says with a grin.
"Ah, yes about that." I chuckled, "You know what happened with mom and she needs someone who can replace her and she wanted me to take her position,"
Tae raises an eyebrow and crossed his arms looking at me, "But?"
"But I just can't accept it," I sigh, "Some of her workers have more experience than me, they deserve that position and I don't want to get it through privilege, I want to earn it just like everyone did. So, I'm still deciding,"
He pursed his lips and nodded, "I get your point," he says and exhales, "Whatever your decisions will be, you know I'll support it." He gave me a reassuring smile.
"Thanks, Tae." I smiled.
"And Jen, about the party..."
I gave him a suspecting look, "It's tomorrow," I said and bit the inside of my cheek, "You're going, right? She's expecting you."
He scratched his head, "Well, something came up and I need to leave for Los Angeles tomorrow morning. We're meeting with a huge business partner-"
"Tae, you promised my mother you're going."
"I know, okay? I'll tell her,"
"Jesus christ, Tae. I can't believe you," I muttered.
He reaches for my hand, "Jen, please understand. My boss personally invited me to come with him, I need to." He gave my hand a light squeeze. "I'll make it up to you, to your mom."
