I have been living in this stupid city for almost a month now and still, no jobs. At this point, I will take anything.

It's true, I have been living here for about 2 weeks and I thought I would have had a new job by now. I mean I'm making due at the moment but if I continue to be jobless, there would be serious issues.

I continue down the street lost in thought while heading home after a day of job hunting. I look up after what only felt like 2 seconds and I realize I had walked about 4 blocks in the wrong direction. I meant to turn left but I guess I was too distracted and kept going. I turn around confused at how that even happened and shake off that train of thought I was on.

As I turn around I see a poster at a bus stop. I start just walking past to go home but I catch something it said. One keyword. "Hiring!"

I whip back and stand in front of the poster. "Mega Pizzaplex! If you love pizza and hanging out listening to cool music come on down!" Wow, that actually sounds pretty cool.

I look for details but it doesn't mention too much. The only other details you see are 4 mascots standing there. A bear, a chicken, a wolf and a crocodile... alligator... can't tell. Doesn't matter. I read the address and it's about a 10-minute drive from here.

I call a cab, hop in and tell the driver the address.
Finally, I needed a win today.

I get there at about 7:50 and... "WOAH THIS PLACE IS HUGE!"

"How long have you been here?" I hear the cab driver laugh at my shock. Woops, guess I said that out loud...

"I've been here about 2 weeks now. How did I not know this was here?"
"I think you just explained it yourself. You've only been here for 2 weeks"
"Oh yeah, sorry haha. Anyways thanks a lot for the ride"

I pay the driver and get out. I'm immediately overwhelmed by the size and vibrant colour of the building. I enter and go right up to the front desk but... no one is there...

I decide to ring the little bell on the desk, but I hear no answer. "Hello?" I call and about 5 seconds later this girl comes running out from around the corner. "Hi there, sorry about that. What do you nee-" She pauses mid-sentence clears her throat and starts again.

"Welcome to Freddy's Mega PizzaPlex where fun and pizza go together! What can I help you with today?" She sounded way perkier and way more robotic than originally. I'm guessing she has to say that to all the guests but forgot or something.

"Hi there, my name is y/n and I was wondering if you still had any jobs available?" She just looked at me kind of surprised.

"You'd like to apply..?" She sounded way too hesitant for comfort. "Yes I'd like to apply"

"Well, we only have 2 jobs right now" She looks to the side with a very nervous expression on her face. "What are the jobs?"

"We have a day shift or... night shift..." She looks at me again, waiting for my response.

"Well... I don't really like working nights so I think the other job would be better"
She sighs and gives me a pleased look.
"Alright perfect follow me!" She goes back to sounding super perky and non-human.

She seems like a weird person. I automatically wanted to become her friend.

She leads me up some stairs and to the right. As she is leading me, I see a lot of posters and start to worry... "So hey, what does this job include..."

She responds more casually than before. "Well it involves just cleaning up after the guests and a bit of entertainment"

"Like singing?" I respond. She just gives me a small puzzled look. "Well maybe, depends on what you want to do." She laughs to herself a bit.

I definitely don't want to sing.

"Oh yeah, another thing! You don't have to worry because you won't be working alone. You have a coworker named SunDrop who will help you out."

I'm half paying attention to what she's saying because I'm distracted looking at the decor (all kind of childish) but one thing slips through.

"His name is SunDrop??? Wow, we get cool code names! That's awesome."
She laughs "Well you can make your code name if you want" She giggles again.
"hmmm I'll have to think about it but definitely will."

She stops and I almost bump into her because I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. I look up and... oh no... I didn't know I would be working in a daycare

"So this is where you'll be working. Your only job is to entertain the guests." I look at her. "...And the guests are... the kids...?"
I'm the nervous one now.

"Of course, you will be the attendant. Well more like an assistant attendant."

"Um so here's the thing... I don't normally broadcast this but... I don't really like kids..."She laughs at me like I'm joking. "Nice one" Her laugh continues but falters when she sees my dead serious face. "You don't like kids...?"

"...ye..."

"Well you know what, this job doesn't require you to interact with them, that was more of a suggestion. SunDrop can take care of that and you could just be in charge of food prep and cleaning and stuff." That does make me feel a bit better but I'm still not sure I could last.

"Anyways I'll just show you around and you'll see how much fun this place is. The kids are all gone by around 4:00 so there are no kids here right now either."

She pushes me forwards. I look for stairs but see none. "How do we get in?" She points right in front of me. I see a sign that says "Slide into Fun".... oh god...

"Do I seriously have to slide into my job..."
"YOU'RE NOT EXCITED?!!?" She sounds offended. "No, I'm kind of claustrophobic..."

"just sit"

She sits me down right at the top of the slide facing down it. "I really don't want to."
"Okay, we can take the stairs if you want." I let go of the handles on the slide turning my torso to face her. "REALLY?!"
Yay, I didn't want to go down the slide.

"...no..." she says and she pushes me with all her force down the slide

oh god...
