"What?!" I squeak out.
I'm dreaming. I fell asleep somewhere and now I'm dreaming.
Loki chuckles. "I am not joking. Today, you will pick out a horse so you can have one. You can come to visit your horse whenever you are free. Even if we have free time together, I will be happy to visit the horses with you."
"You're serious? This is my surprise?!" I whisper scream.
"Yes, Kyrie."
My heart is beating so hard I can hear it in my ears. I look out at the horses smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. I turn to Loki and hug him as hard as I can.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! Loki, you are the best friend ever."
I feel him pat my back making me giggle. He still doesn't like others seeing him be himself which is silly to me.
"You are welcome."
I let go and look up at him. "Are you sure it's ok? I don't want you to get in trouble."
"I already spoke to my mother about it and she said yes."
I look at the horses quickly before looking at Loki again. "I've always wanted a horse."
Loki nods once with a small smile. "I remember you mentioned it once before."
"You do?"
"Of course I do. Why do you look so surprised?"
"Maybe because I told you that a long time ago and you remembered."
Loki shrugs. "It was not that long ago. I remember...I have a good memory but it is not like I remember everything."
"Well thank you for remembering."
Suddenly, a couple more horses come out from the stables and I see one of them coming straight to us.
I smile when I see who it is. "Elding!"
He moves a bit faster and stops right in front of me. He moves his head over the top of the fence and down towards me where I can reach him. I kiss the top of his nose and pat his head.
"How are you, handsome? Did you miss me?"
Elding bounces his head up and down a little and it looks like he gives us a small nod. I hug his head quickly before letting go.
"I missed you too. Guess what? Loki says I can pick out a foal so I can have my own horse."
He lets out air that makes it sound like he's snorting and he looks at Loki. I laugh and Loki puts his hands up.
"Listen. She has always wanted a horse and she needed a nice surprise. You are one of the fastest horses we have and I do not think you would be allowed to be her horse. I do not make the rules so take it up with my father if you do not like it."
Elding lets out a noise that sounds like he's annoyed and he makes me laugh again.
"I can still ride you while the horse I pick grows strong enough to carry me so calm down. I will still love you forever. I will bring an apple for you too when I come to visit, how's that sound handsome?"
Elding does this soft sound that I think means he says "fine" even though he's not totally fine with it. I shake my head at him as I try not to laugh at him again. I look at Loki while I keep petting Elding since he isn't moving.
