"Welcome to my presentation. . ."
I stared at Luke with my brows raised. We were both at work and he had pulled me into an empty meeting room and locked the door behind us. He really did hae a presentation, laptop opened and the projector showing off his work.
"Luke, what the hell are you doing?"
"Shh, Mr. Ivey and pay attention." Luke said, pointing a remote at the projector. In the next link, the title of the presentation popped up and I stared at it with wide eyes, super grateful that I hadn't been drinking because I would have done an epic spit-take.
"Five reasons why Alexei should propose to Mal." Luke read out, grinning like that cat from Alice in the Wonderland. There was even a picture of Mal and I cuddling on the screen, directly underneath the title.
When and how did he have the time to make this?
"One: Because your best-friend, Luke, really wants to attend your wedding." he said, gesturing towards the board. Along with the words were pictures of Luke and I, selfies and some pictures that I do not even know where he got them from.
"Luke, I am not proposing. Don't you think it is too soon?" I asked, reaching for the bottle water that was on the table.
Luke gives me droll look and pressed a button on his remote and the next slide comes up and I snickered.
"Two: It is not too soon. . ."
Luke was looking insanely proud of himself. He knew me enough to know what my response and what my reaction would be.
"You have been dating for a year now. Congratulations, by the way, and it's the perfect time to propose. Or do you want Mal to propose to you? Should I be doing this resentation with your significant other?"
"No. Definitely not." I replied quickly, my cheeks burning up as I imagined Luke giving my boyfriend the same presentation and knowing him, he probably already has one ready for Mal. He was right though, it was our one year anniversary a week ago and it had been the best thing, the best feeling and the best day ever and Mal, really was the love of my life. I couldn't see my self spending time with anyone else.
I reached for the thin diamond bracelet that was on my wrist. It had also come with a matching anklet. The same flower pattern as my collar, which I have been wearing every day and every time.
"Three: you both love each other so much. It is beautiful to see (sometimes also sappy. It makes my teeth hurt. Ask Jhoni)."
I couldn't help but laugh out at that. We have heard this a couple of times before, most especially from Gio.
"Four: you know you want it. . ." Luke gave me a pointed look and I pressed my lips together, holding back my smile. He wasn't wrong about that as well. It is something that I have been thinking about more and more, especially before our one uear anniversary. Being married to Mal, being called Alexei Armas, having a big ring on my finger, walking down the aisle to the most wonderful man ever. It would be like a dream come true.
"Five: there is no fifth reason. . . You don't need it and you know it." Luke folds his hands in front of himself as he stares at me with a knowing look on his face. Does anyone need a best friend? Who wants to swap for Luke?
I looked down at my finger and I couldn't help but sigh. Can you imagine what it would be like if Mal and I actually got married? Oh my goodness.
"Is this all you prepared?" I asked, rasing my head to give Luke a faux disappointed expression, shaking my head at him. I expected more from you, Lucas."
