the night of halloween had come and all of beauxbatons was ready to celebrate the holiday. fluttering bats were hung in the great hall, the suits of armor standing sentinel throughout the castle were festooned with spider-webs, and the school ghosts practiced synchronized floating. everyone in the castle, including the youngest students and the school ghosts, would get to enjoy the luscious feast, and enticing smells of pumpkin, cinnamon, and other things wafted through the hallways as the house elves prepared for the dinner. figured it was worth adding to the mix. the lighting of the hall was dim, and there are a few candles floating around the room, enough so that you won't trip but the overall atmosphere is much darker. cobwebs hang from the ceiling and sconces, while there is a dancing skeleton jiving away on the dance floor. don't get too close or he will grab your hand and dance with you. carved pumpkins are dotted around the room, and candles illuminate the scenes and images he had taken the time to hand carve before the elves had made their pumpkin themed food for tonight; cats, witches, full moons, bats and more, the light drifting through the fog that is slowly raising off the floor as it curls around your feet.
