"Y/n and Sae-byeok! I've been looking fucking everywhere for you."

My eyes widened as I looked at the running man in front of me, not even bothering to glance at Sae-byeok, knowing she'd be staring in shock too.

We hadn't seen Gi-hun in what felt like forever, with just as little communication online and seeing him felt like I was either dreaming or having a nightmare.

"What is he doing here?" I heard Sae-byeok quizzically mumble under her breath. The man who we had once spent days on end with, fighting for our lives was now bent in front of us, trying to regain his breath.

I took a hesitant step towards Gi-hun, bending my head slightly to his level. "Are you o—,"

I was cut off as he thrust a small paper in front of my face. He didn't bother looking at me, keeping his eyes to his feet.

I gasped as I stared at the small paper, that held those three shapes, that have been controlling and haunting my life for nearly a whole year.

I shakily reached my hand out to grab it, before Sae-byeok quickly reached for it, snatching it out of Gi-huns hand and taking a step away from us as I turned to her.

"Where the fuck did you find this?" She yelled out, her face the angriest I had ever seen it. Her hair curtained her face, as she glared at Gi-hun who finally stood straight, seemingly intimidated by my girlfriends gaze.

"Is where I found it your only concern?" He yelled back. I was starting to feel uncomfortable with the yelling and being stuck in the middle of it.

"Why would you bring it to us?" She ripped the paper in half, before sliding her hand into mine and tugging me toward her. Gi-hun's nose flared as her stared at the paper that slowly dropped to the floor, anger flashing on his face.

Why was he angry?

I was fuming. I could barely see straight as my hand clenched tightly around Y/n's. I didn't see the point in throwing ourselves into the games again.

I didn't know why these games seemed to be luring the two of them back but all I knew was it was starting to piss me off.

I was finally happy with my life and finally happy with Y/n, and I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

"Why the fuck do you want to go back? Is what you saw not enough to make you run the other way?" I seethed, pulling Y/n closer to me, feeling as though the closer I had her to me, the safer she'd be.

Gi-hun's fist clenched as he looked at me, his face turning as red as his hair. "Don't you want to try and stop the games? You just want to sit on your ass and let people die!" I heard Y/n gasp beside me, grabbing tighter on my hand.

"We're not letting anyone die Gi-hun!" She exclaimed, taking a step towards him in anger, and leaving my side cold. "They'll have the chance to vote, and they'll have the chance to leave." She said, finally having the change of heart and realising how stupid it would be to go back.

"We can't go back." She softly said, her voice cracking and making my heart strain. I always try my hardest to shield her from things that could hurt her, but obviously it wasn't possible to shield her from everything.

I angrily kicked the paper towards him, sneering. "If you want to go back, I don't care. But don't even think of dragging us into it." I turned around and dragged Y/n from behind me to go anywhere away from Gi-hun and his madness.

"Bye Gi-hun!" Was the last thing I heard before we cut a corner and left him behind us in the dust.

I could feel my whole body tremble with anger as we stopped on the side of a road, and sat on the side of the floor, pulling Y/n beside me.

I just needed some time to cool down a sleep my mind away from the games, and away from the thought of her joining them again.

"Sae-byeok, it's okay." She soothed from beside me, rubbing my shoulder softly and running her fingers through my hair.

My harsh breathing calmed as she continue to whisper soothing words in my ears. I sighed and slumped against her, as she held her head close to me.

"I'm not going anywhere. You can't get rid of me that easily." She joked, and I had to force myself not to tense at those words and the memory it held behind it.

We continued to sit on the side of the road as the sun set before we heard footsteps nearing extremely close to us.

Neither of us bothered to look who it was, as we just relished in the moment we were sharing together.

That was until we heard someone clear their throat behind us. We both shuffled around before turning to the man in a suit behind us.

"Would you like to play a game with me?"
