Before I could stall for more time, everyone gathered there things and got up. I let out a sigh before gathering my things and heading towards the door, surprisingly someone opened the door for me.
I looked up and my eyes widened in horror.
I was face to face with my father, the last person I wanted to see.
"Cmon Lily we have to go.." Rosie insisted, I soon realized that they didn't know my father. Before that could change I practically ran out of there, hopped in Oliver's truck, and slammed the door shut.
I could hear my heartbeat increasing. Was he following me? Or am I just seeing things? Quickly, I looked back at the cafe and saw my dad sitting in the booth sipping a drink and watching a game on the small t.v.
Ok so I'm not seeing things, he actually IS there.
Suddenly the door opened, scaring me have to death. I held my hands against my chest, as if my heart would thump out of my chest if I didn't; like in those exaggerated cartoons.
"Oh my god Lily, is everything okay?" Rosie asked, here eyes were wide with concern.
"Yeah Lily, you look like you've just seen a ghost. Your face is super pale..." Oliver added on.
"Uh... N-no I'm f-fine..." I stuttered out. I wasn't going to let my dad ruin my night. Rosie exchanged a worried glance with Oliver, who just shrugged and reached in his pocket for his car keys.
"Alright if you say so..." Rosie estimated, before waving goodbye and heading towards
Jason's car; we took two separate cars since we all couldn't fit into Oliver's truck.
I let out a sigh of relief and put on my seat belt, Oliver did the same and started the car. We pulled out of the driveway, and headed towards our next destination.
The drive there was very quiet, none of us bothered to break the silence. By the time we even pulled up to Derek's house, I was actually relieved to get out of the car.
Rosie and Jason were awaiting us on the sidewalk, Derek's two story house in view behind them. The music was blasting so loud that it looked like the whole house was vibrating. There were people dumping water on each other on the lawn and a couple people making out by the tree. I tried to hold back my dinner as we walked towards the entrance, I so regret coming here already...
As Jason opened the door and we entered (me first,) a guy standing by us surrounded by friends stared at me intensely. Other than that no one seemed to notice me or even care at all, thank god.
After a second or two the guy who was looking at me looked shock as if he came to a sudden realization. He charged towards me, and I held onto the nearest thing (which happened to be Oliver) for my dear life.
Right when I was about to scream the guy put his hands up as if he was being arrested and shouted , "SURPRISE LILY!!!!!"
I stood there confused for a few seconds while the guy kept his surprised pose. (Which by the way was starting to look really creepy) He reeked badly of alcohol and sweat. Yuck!
Derek appeared behind the guy and gave him a pat on the back, "Dude, it's not a surprise party. She already knows about it." the guys face fell to complete disappointment, then he strolled away keeping his head down while scolding himself.
What a weirdo.
I couldn't help but laugh at the randomness of the whole situation. Derek gave me a smile and embraced me in a hug, I didn't bother to hug him back, mainly because I wasn't a big fan of Derek, but also because I was still holding onto Oliver. Derek seemed to shrug off the fact that I didn't want to hug him, and went back to dance with a whole bunch of random girls.
Rosie and Jason quickly found some friends they knew, so I led Oliver towards the couch. I can feel the glares burning my face as I sit down next to Oliver.
"Don't leave me alone... Okay?" I begged, not sure if he could hear me. Surprisingly he did hear me and he replied,
"So your scared huh?"
"No! I just... Don't want to get lost." I mumbled.
"Whatever you say.." he said sarcastically.
"So I guess you will be ok if I go talk to my friends just as long as you stay here? Right?" I tightened my grip and shot him a look, I knew he was only testing me but I was too mortified of being alone around a bunch of drunk people to even care.
He shot me his million dollar smile, but changed it back to a smirk, then he put his arm around me. I could smell his cologne and feel his warmth, which felt good even in the hot room we were in. What I miss about Oliver the most is his security, I always feel safe and guarded around him. I wonder if what Rosie said at the cafe was true... Does he really miss me?
"What are you thinking about?" he asked while stroking my shoulder.
"Honestly?" I asked; he nodded his head holding an intense gaze. "Well I was thinking about us..."
He seemed surprised and eyes widened, but they slowly softened. "What about us?" he questioned, then raised an eyebrow and looked at me waiting for a reply. I took my time thinking of what to say but I ended up just shrugging. I didn't have anything to say about us in general.
Oliver opened his mouth to speak but was slowly cut off by a couple of girls. "Hey do you want to dance?" one asked, she was a short blonde and was dressed exposed with a mini skirt and loose shirt that just barely covering her belly.
"Yeah I looove this song," another brunette purred, reaching to grab Oliver's hands but he quickly tightened his grip around me shooting them a dirty look.
"I think it's best if you guys leave..." he huffed, and pulled me closer to him. They pouted for a little but once they realized Oliver was no longer paying attention to them, they waltzed away. But not without giving me one last dirty look, so I simply stuck my tongue out at them. I know, childish, but its better than giving them the finger.
Oliver laughted and leaned in close to my ear, "Your so childish Lily..." he whispered. His breath sent tingles right down to my toes, and I felt myself blush. He seemed to enjoy watching me squirm so he stayed close me, I couldn't take it anymore. I'm leaving soon. Rosie's right, I shouldn't give him any ideas.
I lightly pushed Oliver away and looked in the other direction. I'm not going to let things go back the way they were, at least not with me leaving in three days. Oliver seemed shocked, and remained quiet.
I cleared my throat and asked, "I'm going to get a drink do you want one?" he raised an eyebrow and I rolled my eyes, "Not alcohol." I stated. He nodded and retracted his hand, letting me go. I felt a sudden chill with his arm gone...
It took me a while to make my way through the obnoxious crowd, I almost even punched a guy in the face for 'mistakenly' grabbing me. Apparently I looked like his girlfriend... Creep.
A few people told me good luck at a new school, but mainly they just tried to offer me there drinks which I gladly turned down. I don't drink and the good thing is, neither does Oliver.
I filled two red plastic cups with cranberry juice and made my way back to Oliver. Well at least I tried to, every room looked the same! I searched and searched but couldn't seem to find Oliver.
As I was turning a corner to go look outside I abruptly ran into someone, I was suddenly awake with a chill. The cranberry juice was completely spilled all over me!!
My hair was ruined, and my dress was soaked! The worst part is when I looked up to yell at whoever ran into me, no one was there!
But I did see something that truly pissed me off. A good ten feet away, the slutty blonde and her crew were high-giving each other and dancing away. But not without turning and giving me a nasty smirk.
