She is not going to let go. I can see that.
"Just because you are in hurt and pain doesn't give you the right to hurt others." Slowly she justified her eyes darted in mine.
"She was Anju aunty sister before she became a mother to you, you remember that right?" Her voice hit on my face as I absorbed her words.
"For God sake, Anju aunty lost her twin sister who she almost spent half of her life with. Do you know how much pain she would have gone through?. Losing her sibling. She also lost someone close to her heart Aarav. But she didn't do anything to show her pain, at least not by acting cold towards her because she did her did responsibility by taking care of Aria is not you. She mourned as equally as you did. What did she do to deserve your cold behaviour towards her? All she did was to marry Raj uncle that too on uncle's insist since they were friends. Because he thought it was good if you and Aria could get some motherly love. Was that wrong?. You are behaving as if she deliberately planned to take your mom place. Alas, she even lost her husband Aarav. Have you ever comforted her about it?" Rhea questioned, her face screaming lots of emotions. But I sat there just listening to her like an obedient child who was being scolded by his teacher.
"And what did Aria do that you abandoned her from calling you her brother and stopped talking to her just because she accepted Anju aunty." Her face incredulously and shook her head in disapproval.
"It's been 10 years in whole since you stopped talking to her. Do you know how much she misses you? Whenever she talks about you there is always a strange crinkle in her eyes which makes me feel jealous that I don't have any siblings as she does. Though she is angry with you I see her sibling love beneath her tone every time she talks about you Aarav. But her fate, her brother doesn't even acknowledge her even when she tried many times to rebound the relationship." Her voice croaked at the end, her grey eyes turned glassy.
My face turned guilty as I heard how I treated Aria, I tried to look at her with a poker face.
"I know how much it pains and hurts to lose someone very close to your heart." She tried to blink back her tears as she let out those words.
"And believe me when I say I know how it feels, I know it. Because even I have been at your place. And it hurts like hell. I know." She murmured quite audible for both of us to hear. Silent tears rolled down her cheek as her eyes screamed pain.
"Nothing will change that pain by treating others coldly Aarav." She wiped her tears hastily as she looked back at me.
"I am bad at words but, what I wanted to say is, they both don't deserve this. If you can't treat her like your mother at least do not treat her like trash. Because a sweet lady like her doesn't deserve your hatred. At least, treat her as your aunt or Mrs Singhania. And Aria definitely didn't do anything wrong because what she did was right." She defended.
"Don't treat them like that. Even if I am treated like that I can reason it because we both hate each other. But they love you and you don't love them back but at least respect them." She finished as she breathed out.
I sat numb recalling her works as I stared at oblivion.
"Just don't repeat what you did today. Try to treat them better than they deserve." She whispered lastly and walked out closing the door.
Why must she be so right?
God.
I was so cold towards them.
It was like a bucket of cold water poured on my head.
It was the reality.
They both were victims like me. They also lost their close ones.
