Nouns are words used to name persons, places, things, or ideas.

Places: Puerto Princesa City, island, school
Things: book, flower, soft drink
They include:
1. Common Nouns – which refer to any of a class of persons, places, or things: student, high school, baseball team. They are not capitalized.
2. Proper Nouns – applied to particular persons, places, or things. Eden, Letran College, the Palaweṅos. They are capitalized.

3. Collective Nouns – applied to a group: club, army, class.
4. Concrete Nouns – things that can be seen, touched, heard, etc.: desk, book, symphony, perfume.
5. Abstract Nouns – which name qualities or ideas: love, fear, beauty.
Compound nouns
Compound nouns are nouns made up of two or more words such as Adam's apple, boot camp, and belly button.
