Gone Forever- 39 Clues

Chapter 26

        Dan didn't know what to do. He completely remembered Lester, but he had died. This was so surreal. How could Lester Dixon be alive. Dan's mind flashed back to the panic attack he had back in Africa when him and Amy were searching for their seventh clue in the clue hunt.

        "So you do remember me?" Lester asked.

        Right now they were in another containment cell next to the one Harper was in. Dan looked over at Amy who was also there. He had convinced Amy that it would be okay to leave the fight since they had called in backup and there ended up that there was almost 20 more Madrigal agents ready to fight.

        "Of course we remember you. We also remember the eency-weency detail of you dying. Any explanation for that?" Amy said trying not to show emotions. Over the years she had only gotten better and better of an actress. Matter of fact so had everyone on the team had.

        "Well, that all is kinda a mystery to me, too. That is the reason I came here." Lester stated. "One minute I know I'm drowning, the next thing I know I'm in a room that looks like it was modern but made of steel. I didn't know where I was or what had happened. I stayed there for a while and I didn't know how long I was there until one day I woke up in a motel somewhere in Texas. I later found out how long I was there and I was there a matter of years. I have been trying to find you and figure out what happened ever since. Turns out you are very hard to find. Finally I was looking through newspaper articles from around where Grace used to live since she was your grandmother and I found an article about you kids a year or two after I supposedly died. I then followed that trail and I ended up here. Is that a good enough explanation for you?"

        "Your story will need to be checked since you came here at a suspicious time for us but you sound legit. Stay here and we will be back soon and then we will be leaving to the safe-house because, in case you haven't noticed, we are kinda under attack right now." Amy said. She got up and left. Dan after a few seconds followed.

        After Sinead found Lester, lots more of the enemies showed up. Dan had insisted for Kristie to stay with Hamilton after that since he was the best fighter accept for Amy. Dan couldn't help but smile because of the memory of Amy take down the towering body of 'Hamilton the great'. 

        Dan had actually been surprised at how good Kristie could fight, but he still worried. Just as Dan was going to find the action when Madison and Regen ran out in front of him.

        "Kristie got shot. Flesh wound. Ted and Ned are helping out with the medical stuff but she can't keep fighting. You said to get you if she got hurt." Madison blurted out as fast as she could.

        Dan muttered a 'thanks' and sprinted as fast as he could in the direction where Madison and Regen had come. He ran through the mansion and it seemed that almost every room had at least three people fighting. He kept going until he got to the library with Hamilton and someone Dan didn't know in front fist-fighting against four ninja-looking assassins.

        Hamilton noticed Dan and yelled, "Kristie is in there" and nodded his head to the library inside the library that Dan and Amy had found their first 'clue to a clue' as they liked to call it. Amy had insisted on re-building it after the clue hunt.

        Dan ran through the six fighting people and climbed up the shelves to a gray book with no title. He opened the book and saw the familiar keypad he used to unlock the secret library. Dan typed in the code as fast as he could and the floor behind a bookcase off to the side of the room dropped down into the secret library.

        Dan rushed over and down the stairs. When Dan was down the stairs, he pushed a small red button that closed the stairs and saw Kristie propped up against the wall. Ned and Ted were surrounding her with gauze and box full of other medical instruments.

        "Kristie, are you okay? What happened?" Dan said as he sprinted over to her and sat on his knees and looked Kristie over to see how bad it was. It looked like she was shot in the upper arm and a grazed hip. "Omigod I'm so sorry, this is all my fault."

        "No. No it wasn't. I insisted on staying, this is completely on me and I don't want you thinking that." Kristie said in one of the sternest voices he had ever heard her use. She winced at the movement and bit her lip.

        "Whatever you say, babe." Dan said as Hamilton burst in. "We're getting out of here before more get here. We gotta hurry, grab everything absolutelly nessesary and head to the vans." He said and ran off.
