When I woke up I had a horrendous headache. I didn’t even know where I was. I assumed by the fact that my arms were surrounding Charlotte, this was her room.
I sat up and a tidal wave of dizziness took over my body. I glanced over at the clock by the bed – to my horror I was supposed to be at a sound check for tomorrows show a half hour ago.
I jumped out of bed, trying to balance myself by holding onto the wall as I got dressed.
“Where are you going?” Charlotte mumbled sleepily.
“I’ve slept in! I was supposed to be at a sound check for ten.” Charlotte had sat up and was now looking at me sorrowfully.
“So you were just going to leave?”
“No, I was going to wake you up. And besides, you’re coming on the remainder of the tour with us aren’t you?”
Charlotte blushed and giggled. “I guess so.”
“Good. Are you going to come to tomorrows show too?” I questioned hopefully.
“Where is it?”
“Montreal, so you better pack.” I so hoped that she would agree to coming.
Charlotte abruptly jumped out of bed and started rummaging through her wardrobe.
“I’ll be back for you at six tonight. Is that okay?”
“Of course it’s fine.”
Charlotte responded by wrapping her arms around me.
My cell phone started vibrating. It was Zacky.
I removed myself from the hug, gave Charlotte a small kiss and walked out of her apartment.
“Zack, what’s wrong?
“Matt, you are not going to like what I’m about to tell you.”
I finished packing my suit case and quickly got dressed. I was meeting Sarah and Jenna for lunch as a temporary goodbye for going on tour with Matt. Of course, they didn’t know that yet.
I was so excited to be going, the morning when I woke up in the hotel room; I was scared that Matt would completely dismiss me once they resumed their tour.
I grabbed my keys and stepped out of my apartment, locking it behind me.
I walked down the block to the café where my friends and I met almost every weekend for lunch. They were already sitting at a table waiting for me.
“Hey, how are you this morning?” Sarah asked good-humouredly.
“I’m okay.” I responded. I had worn sunglasses just in case my eyes looked overly tired.
“Cameron has a dreadful hangover so I can only imagine how Matt must be feeling.”
“Yeah, he seemed pretty rough this morning. He had slept in for a sound check so he was rushing around and I never really got to see him.” I said trying to hide the disappointment in my voice.
“A sound check? Does that mean he’s going on the road again?” Jenna and Sarah were both giving me sympathetic looks.
“Yes, yes it does.”
“I bet you’re pretty pissed off about that.” Sarah said, her gaze becoming even more considerate.
“No, not really. I wanted to talk to you guys about it actually.”
