“Shadow and Reflection”

Yes, you are inarguably hip
With that look
Dashing, alluring, and bold
I forgot to mention
That you won their votes

“He’s a rainbow, but you’re blind”
I often receive that line
They told me you’re the perfect hue
That seamlessly put colors
In my monochromatic life

I could not assent more to that
You truly are a good shot
With that ball in your arms
Cool sneakers, sweaty and warm palms
Boy, please silence the crowd

I need you not to dwell under their shade
It is I who know more of what you’re made
What they see is just the shadow
But here I am
Facing the reflection... of you

And you were not holding a ball
Neither a bat or all
You were just there, sitting
On the window with a violin
Sipping a cup of tea, while your mind creates a melody

Oh, how I love that view!
‘Cause it entirely shows you
No spotlights
No clamoring
Not even a bit of pretending

I wish someone would create a time machine
It’s the past I am yearnin’
If there’s someone who is blind
It is you, not me
Who got swayed by the swift of fame and hypocrisy

I’m sorry, but
As far as I remember
You are aiming for me, not the “many”
You are chasing after my “yes”
But you end up losing yourself in the crowd
And sadly, I’m already nowhere to be found.
