Sunoo's heart was beating faster than usual. He kept watching the clock on the wall, wondering why the seconds took ages to pass.
In 7 minutes, their shift would be over, and he would go on a date with his new partner.
No. Not a date. Remember what Jungwon told you Sunoo. It's just grabbing a drink with your new partner, to get to know each other. Yeah, not a date.
But what if he thinks it's a date?
"Sunoo?" said Niki, patting his arm, waking the latter up from his daydreaming.
"Yes?" he answered.
"This person wants to see you" replied Niki.Sunoo looked up and recognized the roommate.
"Oh Sim Jaeyun" said Sunoo. "Please come and sit."The young man approached and sat on the stool Sunoo was offering him.
"Good evening" he said, looking quite worried. "I'm sorry I came disturb you, but I really can't focus on anything else right now. By any chance, have you found out anything about my roommates?"
Sunoo looked at Niki, then back at Jaeyun.
"We've found out some new information and we hope it will lead us to them, unfortunately I can't tell you more about it now" said Sunoo, putting a hand on the young man's shoulder.
"I understand... it's just... I miss Sunghoon" he said, whispering the last part. Are they really just roommates?
"I'll do my best to find them as soon as possible, I promise" replied Sunoo, with a soft tone. "And Officer Nishimura is going to help me."
Sim Jaeyun turned back, looking at said officer.
"Nice to meet you Sim Jaeyun" said Niki. "I wished it was in other circumstances, but you can trust us, we will do our best."The young man seemed confused about the change of officers, but didn't ask about it.
"Thank you" he said, looking back at Sunoo. "I'll stop bothering you now. Thank you for receiving me."
"You're welcome, always" replied Sunoo, smiling.Sim Jaeyun left the office.
"Well, I no longer have a day off tomorrow" said Sunoo.
"What do you mean?" asked Niki.
"This boy can't sleep anymore and can't go through his day normally because his... friends are missing. I owe it to him to find them as soon as possible" explained Sunoo.
"I know we only met today, and that we're police officers, but you also need days off you know. To rest" replied Niki.
"I won't until I find them" said Sunoo, determined.
"So... we're not going for the drink anymore?" asked Niki, looking disappointed.
"Oh that" said Sunoo, remembering the invitation. "Don't worry, we're going now."~
They were in Sunoo's favorite bar. Here they had a special drink he absolutely loved.
"So when you ordered the Chocominter, it means it's a cocktail made from chocolate and mint?" asked Niki, quite confused about Sunoo's taste.
"Yeah" replied the latter, smiling. "They take peppermint schnapps and add chocolate. You should try it, it's good."
"I'm not trying that, that sounds horrible" said Niki."Sorry, not horrible, just not my type of drink" he added when he saw Sunoo's face getting sad.
"So why did you enroll in the police force?" asked Sunoo, smiling again.
"Well, I don't know. I wanted to make something good I guess. Plus we have guns and there cool" replied Niki. Why do I like the fact that his inner child is so cute?
"How about you?" asked Niki.
"Good question" replied Sunoo, perfectly aware that he was to first to ask it, and that Niki would ask it back. "I want to save the world."
"That's a big dream" said Niki as their drinks came."Well to saving the world" said Niki, cheering with Sunoo.
"To saving these two boys" added Sunoo. He drank a bit and smiled. This drink had the perfect taste. Sunoo didn't like alcohol that much, but he liked this one a lot.
"So do you want to try?" he asked Niki.
"Try what?" replied the latter.Me perhaps?
"My drink" he said, trying to stop the mental images his brain was creating.
"Okay, let's give it a roll" said Niki, grabbing Sunoo's glass while offering his in return.Sunoo tried Niki's beer and liked it, even though it was strong. Niki on the other hand made a weird face as soon as he tasted Sunoo's drink.
"Not your jam I guess" said Sunoo, a bit disappointed.
"Sorry" said Niki, putting his hand on Sunoo's arm. He's touching my arm. I repeat, he's touching my arm. Heart go slower please.
Sunoo just smiled. If he opened his mouth now, he would probably scream from excitement.
He patted Niki's hand with his own hand, enjoying their first contact."I noticed you talked to the secretary when we came back to the mall. Was everything okay?" asked Niki, his hand still on Sunoo's arm.
"Why would you ask?" replied Sunoo, smiling at this suspicious question.
"Nah, it's just that you had a weird face when you came back to the desk" said Niki.Is this the real reason Niki boy? Or are you feeling a bit jealous of me talking to Jungwon? What's your motive?
Hum. Let's go for jealous."Ah really?" said Sunoo, playing innocent. "It's just that we usually do movie night together on Fridays and I had to cancel today's."
Niki looked sad at first, but quickly smiled when he heard that Sunoo had changed his plans.
I KNEW IT. He looked sad when I said I had regular movie nights with someone. He definitely was.
But let's not torture Officer Cutie anymore."Jungwon has been my best friend for years" he explained. "He has found this job as secretary recently, so it's still weird to interact in the work place with him."
"Oh I see" said Niki. "I wish I had a best friend too."Poor baby.
"Well, you do have me now" said Sunoo, smiling at his new partner and trying to look the cutest he could.
"It's true" replied Niki smiling back.Sunoo had almost finished his drink, and all he could think about was that Niki's hand hadn't left his arm all evening.
Before leaving the bar, Niki had gently squeezed Sunoo's arm, which started a danger alarm in the latter's brain.Jungwon was wrong. People don't just rest their hands on peoples arms like that without afterthoughts.
I bet this Niki likes me.
Maybe I like him too.
