✕ ✕ WELCOME TO YOUR NEW LIFE ✕ ✕

Start from the beginning

When the weapons were uncovered, masses of bodies pushed and shoving past me to grab themselves a weapon. Unlike them, I knew the goal was to get to the exit, not to get a flimsy knife that would give me a false sense of protection. Getting to that exit was my number one priority. I didn't need a weapon when I've forged myself into a weapon my whole life.

I pushed forwards and started running to the glass bridge. There was chaos everywhere and it was hard to push though the mass of bodies blocking my way. There was a male besides me who shoved into me while I was running. My footing wavered on impact and I ended tumbling to the ground and landing on my side. I shielded my head as people trampled over me desperate to get to the exit. Pain spiked throughout my body, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before.

A heavy weight was on me all of a sudden and when I uncrossed my arms from my head and glanced down at said weight, there was a small male body on top of mine, but the body wasn't moving to get up which only meant that the male draped haphazardly over me was dead. I shoved the body off of me in an instant. It's head rolled back and I spotted a hole in the center of his forehead. Blood was oozing out of it. This male was the same one that had shoved me when I was running earlier, and now he was dead. The only thing that could have done this would be able to make a perfect circle in the middle of his head would be a bullet. I knew from the quick glance I gave the wall of weapons earlier that a gun was not provided as one of the choices for protection. The only logical explanation would be the lasers that the voice had spoken about before. But if they were this precise, how the hell was I going to get past them? I kicked the rest of the corpses limbs off of me. laying low seemed to be a good call in this scenario, to be fair, it was my only call.

A loud shriek next to me caught my attention. Seconds later that very cause for that shriek was laying behind me. I took a quick glance to find that it was a little girl, she looked no more then seven years old with her pigtails and heart shaped hair clips. Tears were still running down her face while her eyes were wide open in fear. I felt the familiar burning in my chest, but I pushed aside those emotions and tore my eyes away from the little girl who hadn't deserved this kind of death. I rose up to my feet and started pushing past people trying to make my way to the front.

I pushed past as many people as I could until I reached a line of people that had frozen in that spot. Looking over their shoulders I spotted the lethal laser machines with incredible accuracy. By tips of my feet there was a thin red line. Movement on the down the row on my left caught my eye. A girl with dull brown hair had ran past the red line that the rest of us refused to step beyond knowing what was to come if we did. The only reason someone would make such a reckless decision was if they were desperate enough.

We all watched as she ran beyond the line, as soon as the sole of her shoes passed the red line the machines all turned to her. As if on que, they shot out towards her. She couldn't dodge what was coming her way. One moment she was running, the next she was faced down on the ground with about 7 holes littering her body.

I looked beyond the line, bodies were littered all over the place. My eyes drifted off to the exit and up at the number screen. Two hundred and fifty three, was there. There were only about forty-six spots left and I knew that one of those spots were going to be mine, I was going to make sure of it.

"I want to live!" yelled one guy to my right. He ran off past the red line charging his way towards the glass bridge. He was easily able to dodge them when he was running zigzagged. He seemed to have been an influence to the others, because a chorus of cries rang through the air and everyone who stood behind the line didn't hesitate to run past it. I knew this could be used to my advantage. I ducked low and weaved past people easy as I ran. I was half way when the number of people started thinning as they started dropping one after the other.
