After finishing their breakfast, all the students got on the buses they had arrived in for the competition.
Jungkook and Jee-min also got into their bus and sat beside each other. Jee-min was busy typing a message on his phone to his lover.
Jungkook looked outside through the bus window. After a few minutes, he saw Taehyung getting on another bus and taking a window seat. His face was clearly visible from where Jungkook was sitting.
Jungkook took a deep breath and immediately shut the window and pulled the curtain properly.
Jee-min was shocked to see his best friend close the window because he knew very well that Jungkook loved watching the scenery during the journey. So he asked in a confused voice, "Bunny, are you alright? Why did you close the window?"
Jungkook looked at him with pleading eyes and replied with an innocent face,
"Jee-mina, I'm feeling very sleepy. I didn't get enough rest last night because I kept thinking about how much I hurt you. So I want to take a small nap during the journey to clear my tiredness."
Jee-min smiled at his cuteness and gave him a warm smile. "Okay, Bunny. You take some rest."
"Hmm." Saying that, Jungkook closed his eyes. On the other side, Jee-min put his earphones in and closed his eyes too while playing music.
The bus engine started, and after a few seconds, it began to move.
Tears started falling from the corners of Jungkook's closed eyes. But no one noticed because the curtain made everything dark. He bit his lower lip to control his sobs. Then he silently took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his tears.
He spoke to himself in his mind:
"Tae, I followed you like a shadow for the last 5 years. To win your heart, I did so many things. But today I'm so helpless that I must stop everything… because you've already given your heart to someone else—your childhood friend, Jack."
"I never imagined I would have to ignore you just to control my emotions in front of my best friend. Jee-mina thinks I'm resting, but I closed the window to hide my tears. He can read every expression on my face. From now on, I have to act normal in front of everyone, especially Jee-mina and Sang-hyung.
"Tae, I'll stop trying to win your heart, but I will never stop following you like a shadow. And I will never stop loving you. I will love you unconditionally and forever because I can't stop myself."
With those thoughts, he closed his eyes tightly and began recalling all the previous moments with Taehyung while the bus continued towards its destination.

After returning from the competition, Jungkook changed a lot. He called his father and said that he wanted to learn about the family business so he could take over all responsibilities after graduation. That's why he wanted to focus only on his studies and business matters. He didn't want to participate in any kind of competition anymore.
He wrote an application stating the same and submitted it to the principal. The Principal granted his request because he knew very well that no one should be forced to do something against their will. So they started sending other students for competitions.
On the other side, Jungkook's father was very happy after hearing his son's decision, so he didn't ask any further questions.
Jungkook completely stopped participating in school competitions. He also started ranking second in academics. Jin noticed everything but didn't think much about it, assuming that his little brother-in-law wanted to join the family business, so it was okay if he constantly got second place.
Meanwhile, Jee-min had mixed feelings about the decision Jungkook had taken for him and Taehyung. On one side, he was happy thinking that Jungkook would become a successful businessman in a few years and then finally confess his feelings to Taehyung.
But on the other side, he felt sad knowing his best friend was continuously sacrificing his position for Taehyung. A small fear lingered in his heart: What if Jungkook confessed too late? What if Taehyung chose someone else as his life partner? What would happen then?
A wise man once said: "Out of sight, out of mind."
It means when a person disappears from our sight, they slowly disappear from our mind too.
It was the perfect example for Taehyung.
In the beginning, he missed his only tough competitor when Jungkook stopped participating. But within a few months, he completely forgot about him—forgot his existence too. He didn't show any interest in the second topper of Seagull National University. He didn't even want to know who held the position. He was always busy with his studies and thoughts of his love—Jack.
