The Revelation

It's been a week since the start of our second year's second semester. Except for the stares from third-year students, this week has gone by pleasantly and without incident.

It's Monday morning, and I'm among the first students to arrive for class. Although the classroom is not completely empty, there are less students in it than on other days.

Monday blues huh?

After a weekend, it seems that the students feel unmotivated to return to school. Students, however, have no choice but to attend to school even if they are unmotivated due to the way this school operates. Otherwise, the students, as well as the entire class, will be punished.

I quietly walked towards the back of the classroom and took my seat near the backdoor. I'm not particularly close to anyone that are present in the classroom now, so I've decided to simply observe my classmates from my seat.

These are the times when I wish I was still sitting at the window seat. The view out the window is never boring, and it was the best way for me to pass the time.

I decided to keep an eye on my classmates that are entering through the front door. It didn't take long for the classroom to fill up with more students.

Most people came to the class alone except for a few. Ike and Shinohara came to the class together. My friends from our group, Haruka and Airi also came together.

And then came my neighbour, Matsushita. She entered the classroom alone and walked straight towards her seat.

"Good morning, Ayanokouji-kun."

She greeted me while taking her seat beside me.

"Good Morning." I greeted back with a slight nod.

Matsushita just sat there in the seat beside me and started fiddling with her phone.

My other friends from our group Keisei and Akito; Sato and Horikita entered the class one by one. As the time for Homeroom drew nearer, more students entered the classroom.

At this moment, something caught my eye. A sparkle. This light sparkle only lasted a fraction of a second, but it drew my whole attention.

The source of this glitter is the front door of our classroom. No. To be more specific, the source is the neck of a student who just arrived through the front entrance.

The student that entered the classroom just now is, my girlfriend Kei. The sparkle I just noticed is the reflection that came off from the gold necklace she is wearing.

Kei started walking towards her seat. The first few steps she took were the same as they had been a hundred times before; it was just like any other day. However, as she moved closer to her seat, more people's gazes were drawn to her.

I have to commend Kei for maintaining a straight face and walking normally towards her seat even after realising about the eyes that are staring at her.

While the majority of students are currently focused on Kei, there are a handful who are looking elsewhere.

There's Koenji, who, as usual, is lost in his own world, combing his hair with a mirror in his hand. Horikita, on the other hand, is quietly reading her book, unconcerned with what is going on in the classroom around her.

And then there's my neighbour who's looking in my direction as opposed to the direction my other classmates are looking at. I can see her expression from the corner of my eyes.

She's staring at me with a smug grin on her face and an expression that says, "It's you, right?"

I don't have any intention to say anything right now, so I'm just gonna act like I haven't noticed her look at all.
