Walking home that afternoon seemed to go quicker than you expected. Your mind was lost in the events of what happened only moments ago. You felt your feet fall in rhythm with the music blaring through your headphones as you walk through your neighborhood.
"I'll make you fall in love with me, L/n Y/n"
Ugh you couldn't get him out of your head. His stupid face saying those words played on replay and wouldnt turn off. You wanted to punch your brain for making you think about him so much, but that was easier said then done.
As you walk up to your house you finally come to terms with your brain. Coming to the only logical answer for your problems.
It wouldn't happen. Fall in love with him? Uhh I don't think so. Yeah no. I'm gonna be an independent, rich, wine aunt for Hikaru's future kids. Duh.
You nod to yourself determinedly and step through your door. You saw Hikaru sprawled out in the living room with crayons and a large colouring book. As soon as you walked into the living room he sent you a large grin and quickly jumped up and gave you a hug.
"Nee-chan! Guess what!" Hikaru said as he jumped up and down excitedly.
"What up Little Man?" You chuckle lovingly as you sit down on the couch to be at eye level with your brother.
"I got a gold star in school today!" Hikaru said as loudly as he possibly could, a toothy grin plastered on his face. You smiled at Hikaru and beamed down at him.
"What did you get it for?" You say excitedly. Hikaru's eyes widened at your interest and he excitedly yelled,
"I MADE A FRIEND AND WE PLAYED TOGETHER DURING FREETIME AND WE WERE THE BEST BEHAVED. SO SENPAI GAVE ME A GOLD STAR!" He jumped up and down as he brandished the gold star on his chest with excitement.
"Awee, that's awesome Hikaru. Who is your friend?" You say sweetly to your overexcited little brother.
"His name is Hiro. His parents are friends with Daddy!" Hikaru said as he calmed down a bit and slowly turned his attention back to the colouring book. "I think they're coming over for dinner sometime. That's what dad was saying earlier."
You formed an 'o' with your lips in understanding before standing up from the couch and walking over to your bag that you dropped by the door.
"Hikaru, I'm gonna go and get some homework done. Behave ok?" You say as you walk away to your room.
"Oki!"

"ahhhhggggg"
You groan as you slam your head on your desk. You've been staring at your copy of War and Peace, a book lent to you by the school to read over the weekend. You had been staring at the same page in the god awful book for half an hour and you hadn't gotten anywhere. Everytime you try to read it, you seem to find yourself reading the same paragraph over and over again.
You've never understood literature. Sure, reading is cool, but not any old bullshit written by some sad man back in the time when people spoke like they had a stick up their ass. It never makes sense and then you have to make it make sense in an exam.
"I'm gonnnaaaa faiillllll" You cry into your book you are currently using as a head rest. You were already stressed enough about that Suga jerk and now your stuck stressing over midterms. It's only been a week since you started school and you have three weeks until your midterms. How you were gonna pass them, you had no clue.
Knock Knock Knock
You look up at your door and walk over to answer it. Outside the door was your father smiling down at you.
"Hiya N/n. Sorry I didn't see you when you got home, but I just wanted to let you know some exciting news. Hikaru and I made friends with one of the families that live down the street. So I've invited them over for dinner tomorrow night. Isn't that great!" Your father seemed super excited and you didn't want to ruin the mood so you put on a smile and matched his happy expression.
"That's great Dad. I can't wait." You were about to close the door when your father spoke again.
"Oh! and they have a kid who I think is your age! This could be the perfect opportunity for you to make a friend!" He said with even more excitement. Your smile wavered as you rolled your eyes in your head.
"Ok cool dad. I've got homework to do now, talk to you more at dinner ok?" You then shut the door before he could respond. You then sighed in relief and threw yourself onto your bed.
It's not that you didn't want to walk to your father, it's just that you didn't want the conversation to change onto your mother. Every Time you spoke to him it was always about her, or the new life he created to get away from her.
Honestly, you wished you could go back to Okinawa, there, there were beaches, bass guitars, friends, Mom, Volleyball, skate parks, sun, and a father who didn't care about any aspect of your life so long as you were happy. The only thing you could find in Miyagi was cold winters and a jerk who thinks he needs to force himself into your lovelife.
But there really is no point wishing for the past.
