I sat in my makeshift office overlooking a gigantic warship that was currently being built. A week prior, Malcolm and his little band of rebels had returned from their quest. At the end of the meeting, Zeus said that we were to contact the Romans. And to do that, we were supposed to travel to a Roman camp or something in San Francisco. Hephaestus campers scurried about the riggings, adding the last screws and bolts. One of the newer campers, Leo Valdez, was swinging along a rope tied to a mast and making Tarzan sounds. I shook my head in exasperation. Just then, we heard a loud boom, and smoke poured out of the Engine room. Jake Mason stumbled out, coughing and wheezing. Feeling that all too familiar flicker of irritation, I teleported down to the ship.

"What the heck happened?" I shouted.

Jake still couldn't answer, he was too busy coughing. One of the other campers that were down there with him spoke up.

"We're not exactly sure, Lady Annabeth. One minute we were adjusting some screws and the next think we know, KABLAM, the room is filled with smoke."

"How long will it take to get it fixed?"

Jake looked up. "It should only take a few hours at the most, Lady Annabeth. It will be done by this afternoon. " Jake said hoarsely.

I closed my eyes. "It's only a minor setback." I kept thinking to myself. "It's only a minor setback." But no matter how much I kept thinking this, I knew that my time to get Percy back was fast disappearing. If he found someone to take him in out there, I had a feeling he was most likely to stay there instead of coming home with us.

I opened my eyes. "Well hurry up and get it finished. I want it up and running today, not tomorrow, TODAY. As soon as it is finished, we fly for San Francisco."

Jake and the others nodded frantically. By then the smoke had cleared and the Hephaestus Campers jumped back into the engine room.

As soon as I turned to walk back into my office, my thoughts once again turned to Percy. He belonged here, with us, In New York. He just had to come back. He needed to come back. And I was going to get him back.

PERCY POV:

Roman war preparations sure were different from the Greeks. It was a constant building of fortifications and constant training. And I was temporarily promoted to Dakota's second in command. Nico was Gwen's second. Caleb had been relocated to the armory, where he repaired armor and swords that broke during the camps frequent practices. I haven't heard about Ryan and Carol but Jason said that they were scouting the perimeter on a daily basis.

Around noon, I walked to the camp entrance. I had to admit, the defenses were looking pretty formidable. A new wall circled the camp, right between the Little Tiber and the Caldecott Tunnel. Trebuchets and catapults lined the top and watch towers dotted the walls at regular intervals for archers to fire on enemies with impunity. Ah... dark days to be a monster.

I heard the some people beginning to walk back into camp. I looked closer and I realized that they were Ryan and Carol, along with two others I didn't recognize. I waved eagerly at my two friends.

"Hey! What's up, Percy?" Ryan eagerly called.

"Percy, I want you to meet Hazel Levesque and Frank Zhang. They're also from the Fifth Cohort. Scouts, just like the Ryan and me." Carol said.

I shook hands with the two.

"So you're Percy Jackson? It's going to be an honor to be fighting alongside you." Frank said.

I nodded. "It's going to be an honor fighting by you too, Frank."

I extended my hand to Hazel, she smiled and shook it.
