CHAPTER 5 : WORK COMMENCES

No time to waste

      At first they just looked into each other’s eyes. Tracy’s purple lines around her golden irises were already glowing now. She tried to match Tex’s intensity to maybe push him to saying stuffs like “Just kidding” but even though he was just staring blankly at her as if he didn’t just ask such a question, it was clear that Tex wasn’t giving up and he could wait a thousand years for her answer.   

“How…, how did you know all of this, first my issues with Aunt Marley and now this, who are you?’ she replied at last.

       Tex wasn’t buying this façade. This wasn’t the response to his question. He tilted his head in determination scrutinizing her further his gaze becoming slightly intense. Tracy saw he wasn’t giving up so she broke.

“Yes, I have some private business that coincidentally stumbled with your affairs and it along with my family’s recent suspicious behavior was a major factor that convinced me to join your group.” She finally conceded with a sigh of defeat.

“What private business? How does medicine fit in here?” Tex pressed on.

“None of your business Tex!” she said now angry and standing up.

“Oh well, just wanted to see if I could get it from the horse’s mouth directly. Anyways what you said is better than lying and I have my personal ways of getting information.” Tex said.

        Tracy was afraid. She knew he had his sources – that’s how he knew these entire info he was asking her anyways – and he could always dig deeper. Tex sensed her unease and smiled. However that was only slight a lasted just for a second then instantly he looked blankly at the lake.

“Tracy you heard what Nathaniel said earlier. If you have any questions you can ask me now?” he said calmly shocking Tracy yet again.  

She composed herself and answered “Actually I do. What connects Recruit, Travir, Elliot and the Fraction Agency?”

“Lanthur, the Fraction Agency discovered lanthur on Uranus and sold it to the U.S. government for 2 trillion dollars. That was only a gram of it. It is rare and besides the antimatter it produces and its other uses makes it worth the price. It was stolen however before the government could even use it after they bought it. Travir wants some but Drake doesn’t allow this due to some old blood between them. This war needs to be stopped and Nathaniel will find out what Travir’s plans are. Recruit managed to get their hands on a handful of resources of which lanthur is part. They are using these resources to develop tech and money to help their members achieve their personal goals and most of these goals are disastrous.” Tex answered.

“Ok, can I know more about Recruit?” Tracy asked.

“All you need to know is on the laptop given to you along with your workstation.”

“Who is Satura?”

“A member of Recruit, an executive and talented gunman or boy whichever way, he has his own agenda of getting revenge on the Yin group, a group of assassins and thugs. He has infinite resources to execute his plans. Recruit recently gave him an assignment to capture me. They were paid by Elliot and also they want me out of the line because I know too much and last year I raided their shack.” As he said the last sentence he smiled darkly giving Tracy shivers down her spine.

“Raid them, how?” Tracy asked bewildered.

“I had meant to steal some stuffs but I got caught. So I stirred up a little fuss and got more than what I wanted.”
