-Max's POV-

"Found it!" I exclaim as I lift a folded stool out of one of the boxes labeled "LIVING ROOM STUFF". I tuck it under my arm and started back into the Byers' house, almost being hit with a mattress that Johnathan and Nancy were carrying on the way.

"Turn around," Lucas and Julie sang as they packed up some of the few things left in the main room "Look at what you see-ee-ee." I laugh as the couple continue and get flipped off by Dustin. Me and Dustin had talked about a month after he apologized. I had mostly forgiven him but a part of me was still upset. I hang out with him with the party but Dustin and I haven't had one on one since. If I'm being completely honest I'm fine with that. I get that he was hurting but he didn't need to take his anger out on my happiness.

I walk down the hallway and turn into El and Will's room, which Will had just walked out of.

I lean against the door frame for a moment, watching as my brunette girlfriend tries to use her powers to retrieve the teddy bear on the top shelf. "El?" I call. Eleven stopped and panted for a moment as I step in and hand her the stool. "The item you requested is here, my queen," I say in a funny cartoonish royal voice. El chuckles and puts the stool on the floor before unfolding it. She took a step on it and reached up to grab the stuffed bear with a look of disappointment on her face.

"Hey don't worry," I started. "They'll come back. I know they will."

El picked up the stool and folded it back before giving it to me. "Thanks. But I know they won't. It's almost like I can't feel them anymore. They faded away."

"You packed your walkie right?" I ask, trying to change the subject. I know how emotional El can get over losing her powers. She's had them all of her life and they were always there but now things were different. I've recently learned that El doesnt do so well with change.

"Yes," El answers

"Because you know I'm gonna steal Cerebro from Dustin and call you so much you're gonna have to turn it off, right?"

"Yes. And I look forward to it," El laughed. "Did you talk to your mom, about Thanksgiving?"

"Yeah as long as I can buy my own train ticket and stuff I can go. I asked the same about Christmas too. But I was thinking you guys could come here for New Years and my birthday since it's around that time."

El nodded and walked past me. Something seemed to be on her mind. Suddenly she stopped and turns around. "Max?"

I life my eyes from the ground to meet El's. "Yeah?"

"Do you remember that day at the cabin? You were yelling?"

I glance around awkwardly, playing with I fingers anxiously. "Yeah, that was the first time I admitted that I loved you out loud," I answer.

"Max...", El started as she walked up to me. She put a hand on my cheek before giving me that sweet, gorgeous smile that I love. "You are the sweetest person. I love you, so much."

She leaned in and I leaned in too. We share a kiss and it sent butterflies into my stomach. I reach my hand up to El's face and caressed her cheek as all the worries I ever had melted away. We finally pulled away after several moments. "I love you too", I whisper with a smile.

-Meanwhile-

-Will's POV-

I walk out of my room, inspecting all my old D&D stuff. A lot of it was damaged from the rain that night but it was still mostly usable. As I step into the kitchen I could hear Dustin shouting at Lucas and Julie, which makes me chuckle a bit. I drop my things into the box on the kitchen table before I'm stopped.
