𝐗𝐗𝐈: 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐌𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫

"I never knew finding a job would be this hard." Sae-byeok mumbled under her breath as she scrolled through her phone, sitting on my bed. Sae-byeok had been looking for a job for a little over a week now, and whenever she spoke about searching for one, it was a painful reminded that I should find one too.

I didn't have the best credentials, being a high school dropout in debt, but maybe someone was just really desperate

Surprisingly enough, Sae-byeok didn't like pestering Gi-hun when it came to his money. I couldn't blame her though. She said she felt like a charity case, so decided she'd get her own job and find a place for her and her brother to stay. But for now, he was still in the orphanage.

"I can search for a job too? So I can help you out." I pulled out my phone as I heard her grumble under her breath. Before I even had time to switch it on, it was out of my grasp, and I immediately turned to the culprit.

I cocked a brow at her as she spoke, still searching on her phone. "If you're going to get a job, get it for yourself, not me." When she was distracted, I leaned over and snatched my phone from her grip, lying on my back to start my job fishing.

"Don't be so reluctant to take my help Sae-byeok, you deserve it." I said, before I heard my doorbell ring. My eye brows creased in confusion. It was pretty early in the afternoon and my parents wouldn't be home until a couple more hours.

I groaned as I sat up, Sae-byeok looking away from her phone to follow me to my front door. "I'm coming!" I yelled out, as the person continued to ring the door bell, making me suck on my front teeth in annoyance. I heard Sae-byeok's footsteps come to a halt as I unlocked the door and pulled it open.

My eyes widened as a little boy stood in front of my door, with a large suitcase in hand.

My eyes widened as I stared at the boy standing at the front of my door, who I knew to be Sae-byeok's brother. She didn't waste a moment before she slipped passed me and pulled him in to a tight embrace. From where I was, I could see her hands trembling.

"Cheol, how did you know I was here? And leaving the orphanage alone is dangerous!" She pulled away, reprimanding her brother before pulling him back into a tight embrace, as his small arms circle around her. I smiled slightly at their interaction as I watched from the sidelines. I never had any siblings, but I had always heard of only bad stories; big fights and arguments, and never getting along with them. But in their case, it was the complete opposite.

"I didn't come here on my own." He mumbled into her shoulder. I felt a bit awkward standing at the doorway and was about to leave to give the two some bonding time, but froze as those words came out of the dark haired boys mouth.

Sae-byeok looked equally as confused and even more alarmed as she pulled back again and stared at him, her eyebrows downturned. "Then who brought you here?" She asked, and he turned around to the idle and quiet streets of my neighbourhood. He shrugged his shoulders.

"The red haired mister. He said he was your friend." Was all he said, and it clicked in my mind who brought him here. But it didn't make sense. Gi-hun knew Sae-byeok couldn't yet support Cheol, she could barely support herself as it is.

Sae-byeok frantically turned to my shocked figure, jutting her chin to the suitcase behind Cheol. I took the hint and slipped past the two siblings, laying the suitcase down on the pavement and quickly zipping it open.

I flipped the top of the lid open, and I'm sure my face was illuminated in gold. My breath got stuck in my throat as my jaw went slack. "What the-- freak." I squeaked out, quickly remembering there was a child in my presence.

I turned to Cheol, closing the suitcase. "Do you know where the red haired man went?" I asked, and Sae-byeok shuffled beside me, opening the suitcase as her lips pursed into a straight line, obviously already knowing what to expect.

Cheol looked at his sister for a moment before shaking his head. "No." I sighed before nodding my head and pulling out my phone, quickly dialling Gi-huns number, and getting no answer.

"Son of a gun." I mumbled under my breath before turning to the two Kang siblings, sending them a quick smile. I quickly ushered them both inside, before dragging the suitcase behind me, leading them to my room. "Make yourselves at home, I'm going to go look for Gi-hun." I quickly said, turning around before an all too familiar hand made its way around my arm, pulling me closer to the owner.

"Are you sure you're okay going on your own?" She said, slightly looking down at me as I sent her a grin, before my gaze turned to her brother. I nodded my head at her. "You have your brother to take care of. I'll call if something goes wrong, I'll see you both later."

Sae-byeok sighed as her hands dropped from around my arm, and I felt myself shiver. I waved goodbye before I quickly headed to the front door, sitting on the floor to put on my stubborn shoes

I had no idea where Gi-hun could have went, and why he would've just given away all of his money like that. I didn't know where to start looking for the man, but I knew I couldn't be out for too long.

And so, I left my house, mindlessly walking around street vendors and running children, occasionally calling Gi-hun's phone but getting no answer in return. I walked around a park, and was about to give up before a loud sound of a slap and a yell pulled me from my trance.

I turned to my right to see a man in a suit, and another man bending on to the floor to pick up a folded, blue paper.

"Again. Let me play again." He said, as he held tightly to his cheek. I felt frozen in place as the man in the suit bent to pick up his red folded paper, before his eyes locked with mine, and a look of recognition crossed his face.

My eyes widened as I realised who he was, and felt nauseous, as he continued to play with the other man.

The minute the game was over, I pushed passed the few people who were also walking around the small park, running to where the man stood with a small card in his hand. Terrible flashbacks resurfaced in my mind, and the only thing I knew at that moment, was that I couldn't let that struggling man play the games and die.

"Give me that." I croaked out as I ripped the card from his hands, holding it to my face to see the three same symbols that sent a chill down my spine.

"What the fuck are you doing?" The man whined as he reached for the card angrily. "Give it back, it belongs to me." His irritation voice filled my ears, and I pushed him away from me as I held the card to my chest, slowly shaking my head.

"You'll learn to thank me later."
