DEAR DIARY,
today is september 15th, 20XX. my sister woke me in a daze, her eyes bloodshot and suffocated of any moisture. she coaxed me into eating something, i think it was a few layers of pancakes with mandarin marmalade drizzled and spread across the top of the fluffy and soft surface of the first layer. in a pissed, rabid manner, i pushed her and it only made my stomach turn and convulse because of the overpowered, sickly smell of the oranges.
i puked in front of her. it felt like my stomach flattened. i was never more happy in that moment.
i don't want to eat it. why did she force me to eat it? i never want her to do that to me again.

❝HER NAME IS KOKO MIZUKI.❞
Vanessa felt all of the boys' infatuation, disgust, and unwarranted torment spread through the room like wildfire. They pointed to her soft, ample thighs, the bleached river of hair that went straight down to the back of her knees, the way her eyes squinted with her obligatory smile, and more things that Vanessa didn't want to think about anymore.
"Nice to meet you all," she struggled. Her accent poured through her voice and made the girls at the back of the class giggle with joy. None of the boys would be into a girl with an accent, they probably thought. Koko noticed the girls giggling and immediately cringed on the inside and made a face of embarrassment. She had only been in America for a year and was known to have the dialect of a real American back in her country. She didn't expect people in America to have such high standards.
"Alright, you can go ahead and sit by Corey," the teacher announced. Does the teacher want to embarrass her more? Maybe doesn't care? No one really knew.
Koko walks and sits next to the Corey in question, next to the bookshelves filled to the brim with thrillers and mystery hardcover books. Vanessa breathed in and smelled a whimsical smell of cherry blossom. Koko noticed that it collected dust, the grayness of the grime spreading across her fingerprint when she swiped at it.
Vanessa turned to stare at the new girl for a bit. She saw her sylphlike finger sway across the thick books on the bookshelf while the teacher went on with the lesson. Koko had pulchritudinous, silky hair. The afternoon sun that beamed on her made her pale, fair skin glisten and her brown, coffee-specked eyes reflect light like a pantone color on kitchen textile.
She would be great for a photograph. Perhaps in the class garden.
Koko turned when she realized she had to pay attention to class. She didn't notice that Vanessa whipped her head around, blush growing across her already-rose cheeks.
