Nakakabaliw pala pag ganito.

Hinigop ko ang kape at bumalik sa sala. Alas-syete pa lang ng gabi. Masyado pang maaga para magpakabangag.

Ano bang nangyayari sakin?

DING DONG.

Bahagya pa akong nagulat nang tumunog ang doorbell.

Nakabalik na kaya si Ruby?

DING DONG. DING DONG.

Hay...buhay...

Padabog akong tumayo at binuksan ang pinto.

KING's POV

"Ok, here's what you're gonna do. Hold this." inabot sakin ni Enzo ang rose.

Nakakunot ang noo ko.

"Stand right here and ring the bell. When the door opens, don't speak for ten seconds."

"And why is that?"

"Just do it, man!" si Ken

"You're not here to convince a CEO to sign a contract with your company, Xander, so loosen up. Don't be so formal, show me your miserable face." si Hanz

"I AM miserable." sagot ko

"It's a matter of life and death, if you---"

"I won't."

"Alrighty then...when she comes out and speak or whatsoever, that's your cue. Start talking." si Drew

"And do emphasize your wrong side of the story, like it's your last night in this world." si Z

"That's what I intend to do."

"Ok, good luck!"

"Wait! What about you guys? You're not going to stand behind me?"

"Geez Xander! What would that make us? Minions?" si Enzo

Para lang kaming mga teenage boys na nagtatalo sa harap ng bahay ng babaeng liligawan ng kabarkada.

Ilang mga tao rin ang napapatingin sa amin at napapailing, others just smile na para bang nakakaaliw kaming panoorin sa ganoong ayos.

Ang usapan naman kasi namin ay baback-up-an nila ako sakaling hindi katanggap-tanggap ang paliwanag ko.

"It's much better kung makakapag-usap kayo nang maayos, we'll be waiting in the car. If an hour has passed at hindi ka pa bumalik, well...that means you succeeded."

And then they flashed their ever so malicious grins.

Geez.

I never felt so nervous in my whole life.

Naalala ko tuloy noong nagawa kong mag-apologize sa kanya when I called her 'flirt' at nagalit siya sakin.

That was the first time that I felt so stupid...just for her...and I never gave up, didn't I?

Snap.

I jolted. Z snapped his fingers at me.

"You're still here, Montereal."

"Yeah, right."

I breathed raggedly at inilang hakbang ko lang ang daan hanggang sa front door.

"Your time starts...now!" sabay alis ng lima papunta sa puting sasakyan sa may di-kalayuan.

And I'm here, standing face to face with this wooden door.
