Chapter 136

So far these interviews have been a travesty. There are only two people left, and I'm praying that one of them is the one.

This guy walked in, he sat at the table, but something about him was oddly familiar. I looked at Monique, then back at him.

"Do I know you?" I asked.

"Kinda," he chuckled.

"Bri, this is the guy you almost hooked up with at that club when you first moved out here," Monique laughed.

"Shut up!" I said in disbelief, "for real?"

He laughed and nodded.

We asked him some questions and after five minutes, he left. Once he was out of plain sight, I dramatically balled up his résumé. There's no way in hell I'm gonna hire someone I almost slept with. Even though he was the best one we've seen all day.

The last person to walk in was a young girl who may have been a year or two younger than me. She's pretty, but she's a little too pretty to watch my child.

"Hi, I'm Clarissa," she said, shaking my hand.

"I'm Briana, and this is Monique." I looked over her résumé, then looked at her. "So you've worked with kids before?"

"Yeah. I really love kids."

I nodded attentively as she went on and on about her last job.

"Do you drink or smoke?" Monique asked.

She seemed legit. I only had one more question for her, and I've been asking this all day; this could make or break her.

"Okay, let's say I'm not home, but Blake is. Would you try to have sex with him?"

She looked at me like a deer in headlights, while Monique was trying not to laugh.

"Well --"

"Ahaaaa, wrong answer," I said, "it was nice meeting you though. I'll call you if you get the job."

She smiled and walked out. I ripped up her résumé and threw it away with the rest of them.

I'm never gonna find a decent babysitter.

After those tragic interviews, I was glad to be home. I guess Brielle's just gonna have to go with me until I find someone.

As I walked up to the front door, I saw Chris' car parked in the driveway, then he & Jada came out of the house.

"Hey y'all."

They looked at me, and Jada seemed scared for some reason, making me nervous.

"Please don't kill him, Briana."

That was the last thing she said before she & Chris got in the car and left. Confused as hell, I go in the house and in the living room, only to see some woman sitting on the couch and holding my child.

"What the hell is going on in here?"

"Bri, this is Heidi," Blake said, smiling at the woman.

After the day I had, I really don't wanna fight with him or fight this bitch.

"Okaaaay," I dragged out, "who the fuck is Heidi?"

"She's the nanny."

I don't know what happened, I just know some kind of obnoxious laughed slipped out of my mouth. He must be fucking stupid.

He didn't say a word, but ol' girl looked like she had something to say.

"You got somethin' you wanna say?" I asked her.

"I'm just confused as to why you're so angry," she said, "he said you were just the baby mama, so I don't understand."

Why has everyone been testing my patience these days?!

"Well, you should know that I'm not just his baby mama; I'm his wife," I said, showing her my ring, "now I'm gonna give you exactly three seconds to give me my child and get the hell out of this house, or all of your hair is gonna be in my fist."

She quickly got up and left the house, leaving me alone with this jackass I call a husband.

"That was rude," he said.

"You haven't seen rude yet," I mumbled, "where'd you meet her?"

"A bar," he said casually.

Did he just...?

"A bar?! You were looking for nannies for our a bar?!"

I really wanna fight his drunk ass right now because he is not making this easy for me.

"So basically, you saw someone you wanted to fuck and decided that's who was gonna watch our child?"

He didn't say anything.

"Well that ain't happenin'. Daddy's not gonna be fuckin' the babysitter in this house."

"That sounds fun," he chuckled.

That only pissed me off more. I understand that may have been a joke, but I'm not in a joking mood.

"You think that's funny?" I asked, cutting my eye at him.

"Yeah," he chuckled again.

"Let's see how funny it is when you're sleeping by yourself."

He sighed, "you're gonna make me sleep in the guest room?"

I shook my head, "nah. This is your house, so I'm just gonna leave."

I picked Brielle up and started to leave, but he grabbed my arm.

"Wait, baby, don't go. I'm sorry. It was just a joke," he said, pulling me back on the couch.

"Does it look like I feel like joking around right now?"

"What were you thinking when you brought her here?" I asked.

"I don't know. I was just so mad earlier, so I got drunk and brought her here to piss you off."

"Well it worked," I mumbled.

What has happened to me? The old Briana would have dragged that hoe out of the house, then cussed Blake out. I'm getting soft.

"I'm sorry..."

"I know you're sorry, but I don't wanna talk about this anymore. You need to go to sleep," I said, staring straight ahead.

"Are you coming?"

"No. I don't really wanna be in the same bed as you while you're drunk. I'll just sleep down here or something."

"Bri, no. You sleep in the bed; I'll sleep in the guest room."

I heavily sighed, "I already told you I'm not gonna make you sleep in the guest room in your house."

"Stop saying that," he said, sitting back down.

"What? It is your house because if this were our house, you wouldn't keep disrespecting me the way you do."

"Bri, I'm --"

I groaned and rolled my eyes, "if I agree to come upstairs, will you shut up?"

"Fine. I'll be up in a minute."

"I promise."

He kissed me, then Brielle's forehead and went upstairs. I sat on the couch for a while, just staring at and playing with my ring. I eventually took it off, slid it in my pocket, and carried Brielle upstairs.
