Not So Perfect

Skylar's POV

The dye was cold on my neck as Kai painted it on. I kept my face down as he spouted on about some nonsense, holding my hair up for him. Blair laughed as she sat up against the bathroom door.

"You think the red will come out enough?" She asked and tapped her feet on the ground. I smiled slightly, knowing she couldn't see it.

"I sure hope so, I'm basically putting the bottle in the bottom of her hair," Kai barked out a laugh as he finally set the brush down and started hand applying the dye. I hummed as he finished up and set a timer for ten minutes.

"So the box says to wash after 10 minut—" Blair's voice stopped as the door opened and she scrambled out of the way. My brother, Alex, poked his head in, not looking up from his phone.

"Hey Sky me and dad are gunna head out on the aaaaa-" he looked up to see Kai and Blair in the room, "a drive, out on a drive," I almost laughed at how bad the cover was. "Be back before midnight," he muttered, knowing I was making fun of him, before closing the door again.

A minute after he did Kai's timer went off and he moved me to the shower. Blair and him talked about some assignment they had last week as Kai held my head under the water.

To be honest I don't really know why I bought the hair dye a few hours ago, or why I called Kai and Blair over last minute to help me bleach and dye the underside of my hair. I think I just wanted a a change, being known as the 'little angel' of my major had started getting boring.

Well really it got boring when I was 16 and couldn't read a book without getting interrupted to talk about the nickname.

That was probably when I made the biggest change...

Before I knew it Kai was finishing blow drying my hair and had me up straight. I blinked into the mirror.

Woah.

I leaned in. The red was bright was hell, popping out even if it was under brown hair. Kai completely dropped the idea of straightening it so it waved around randomly.

It looked... amazing.

"Nice job Kai," I said in amazement and he preened with pride. Blair laughed.

"Kai, you look like a bird," she snickered and Kai kicked her foot, earning an "ow" from her.

"Everyone going to that lecture tonight are gunna be sent into shock by how hot you look," Kai fluffed my hair distractedly.

I rolled my eyes before freezing in place. Shit Wait, that lecture was tonight? "Skylar, you good?" Kai leaned over me to look at me face to face. I blinked before smiling.

"Ya all good, when was the lecture again?" I tried brushing it over my shoulder as Kai grabbed a rubber band and started braiding a chunk one hair.

"5:30 tonight," he hummed as he tied off the braid and clipped it up. "We're still sneaking Blair in and carpooling right?" Kai asked as her showed off his handy work to the blonde on the floor. She nodded and clapped slightly.

"Yes sir," I laughed and stretched, I've been sitting like that for almost and hour and my knees hurt.

Worse than scrapped knees however was getting away from Kai and Blair for a bit after the lecture to go handle something else.

I groaned as my professor blabbered on. I really do love being an English literature major but the way the teacher spoke was like the most boring auto biography times ten. I yawned and leaned on me hand, eyes flickering over to Kai's watch, now rest on his arm as he snored next me.
