"God you were gone a while, long line at the bar?" EJ asked Kaylie and Ricky as they returned to their seats.
"Something like that." Kaylie said with a smirk. She was bad at hiding when she had something up her sleeve, or perhaps she enjoyed seeing other people's minds turning trying to figure out what she meant.
EJ shrugged it off and turned his attention to Ricky who was sipping on his drink.
"That's water, right?" EJ said sternly.
"Vodka Tonic." Ricky replied.
"Haven't you had enough already?"
"I don't think you've had nearly enough. Loosen up Caswell." Ricky said, holding his drink out to EJ.
It wasn't exactly a perfect solution, but if it kept Ricky from drinking more EJ decided it was a necessary evil. He took the drink and downed it quickly.
"You jerk! I only meant like a sip. You owe me!" Ricky scoffed.
EJ wiped his lip and laughed. Before Ricky could really get upset, a voice sounded over the speakers.
"Alright, next up we've got Chad and Troy with a fitting classic- Start of Something New. Any High School Musical Fans in the house tonight?"
The crowd around the bar cheered. EJ turned to his friends, confused, but found that Ricky had disappeared.
"Hey where did-" He began to ask, but was interrupted by Kaylie who was pushing him towards the stage.
"You're up 'Chad' " Kaylie laughed.
"You DID NOT." EJ said trying and failing to resist Kaylie's prodding.
"You're right, I didn't." Kaylie said with that signature smirk and pointed to the stage.
The lights came up on two microphones, One currently occupied by Ricky who was smiling with either devilish delight, drunk glee, or both.
"Come on Chad!" Ricky shouted. EJ reluctantly climbed the stairs to the stage and stood in front of the microphone.
"Chad and Troy, really?" EJ whispered to Ricky who was just about to die laughing.
"Kaylie wanted to hear me sing, it was all her idea" Ricky responded.
"Something tells me this wasn't her song choice."
"I may have had a little input."
"Well Troy, Let's give them a show then, huh?" EJ said, turning on the charm.
The music started. EJ began to sing Troy's part but Ricky interrupted him, singing over him.
🎶Living in my own world, didn't understand🎶
"I'm Troy, remember." Ricky spat out between verses, flashing a smile at his singing partner.
🎶That anything can happen, when you take a chance🎶
A bit annoyed, EJ decided to one up Ricky and sang Gabriella's verse with a wild riff on the final note.
🎶I never believed in what I couldn't see🎶
"Show off." Ricky said under his breath.
🎶I never opened my heart, to all the possibilities🎶
"What did you expect?"
🎶I know that something has changed, never felt this way and right here tonight, this could be the start of something new🎶
