"I'm so tired, I couldn't sleep at all last night," my friend Sarah whispered to me.

"I know me neither!" I exclaimed.

About a month ago, we won Avenged Sevenfold meet and greet tickets. I had woken up in disbelief that morning.

"Only three hours left!"

I sent Sarah an eager smile. I was shaking with excitement.

We made our way up the steps and entered the arena. I headed straight for the merchandise booth, pulling Sarah by the arm. I wormed my way through the dense crowds and secured a place for myself, Sarah and our other friend Jenna by the till. I had saved up a lot of money and bought a hoodie, t-shirt, a wrist band and aviator sunglasses like the ones that Matt Shadows wears.

We made our way to the toilets and changed into our newly acquired A7X clothing. I checked my pockets to make sure I had the photo I.D that would prove myself the winner of the contest. I sighed with relief as I found that it was still there.

We ran to the front of the standing area. I was elated that we were early enough to get to the front. I clung to bars that were placed just in front of the stage as fans started to fill up the area. As I looked around, I could see that the seating area was full and the crowd behind me was becoming increasingly condensed.

The lighting went off as My Chemical Romance came on stage to open the show.

" [Gerard:] Well, are you ready, Ray?

[Ray:] Yeah...

[Gerard:] How about you, Frank?

[Frank:] Oh, I'm there, baby

[Gerard:] How about you, Mikey?

[Mikey:] Fucking ready...

[Gerard:] Well, I think I'm alright

We screamed along with the words to vampire money, becoming ever more anxious for Avenged Sevenfold to come on stage. I couldn't wait to meet them either. I always lose my dignity at concerts, dancing and screaming at the top of my lungs, not caring who sees me. I had a feeling I would be the same when I finally got to meet the band. I felt bad, in a way, because I could only take one friend. Sarah liked them a lot more than Jenna. So, I chose to take Sarah, and I felt some resentment from Jenna.

"Hey Toronto! Are you guys fucking ready to rock?" Gerard Way screamed at the crowd. It was followed by rapturous screaming.

"Okay, so for our next song, everybody scream DESTROYA!"

Once again, there was rapturous screaming. I was a little disappointed with their set list. I really wanted them to sing Famous Last Words. Thankfully, they did.

Finally, after four hours of waiting, the lights went out once more.

The crowd shouted "Sevenfold! Sevenfold!"

Spotlights shone around the crowd and made their way on stage. I could hardly contain my excitement.

All of a sudden, the spotlights died out and a pre-recording of Matt Shadows was played.

"He who makes a beast out of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man."

The curtain fell as he started to scream.

After they finished Bat Country, Matt shadows addressed the crowd.

"Okay you guys! I want everybody to be quiet for like two minutes. I wanted to ask that everybody in the room pays tribute to Jimmy before the beginning of this next song!"

Everybody stood in silence. The atmosphere was incredible - you felt connected to everyone in the room. Then, the next song started.

"Never feared for anything, never shamed but never free..."

After two hours of screaming, the concert was sadly coming to a close. As the camera went past all the people at the front, most were crying.

"Okay," Matt Shadows addressed the crowd for the final time. "This is our last song. So I wanna hear you guys fucking screammmmmmmmm!"

The crowd screamed on cue as the final song started.

"A lonely road, crossed another cold state line..."

As he started to sing, Matt Shadows took off his glasses and placed them on his shirt. He came down to the crowd and everyone's arms began to wave in the air, desperate to touch the Avenged Sevenfold front man. My arms were two of them.

As he came in front of me, the crowd surged forward and surrounded the area. I was being compressed into the railings and screamed out in pain. He heard me. As I saw him look into my eyes, I lost all trails of thought and my heart was racing. As his gazed lingered, I became more flustered and my face grew a deeper shade of red. Eventually, he smiled at me. It was a sincere smile that made me melt as I saw his dimples. His melodic voice sang the lyrics of dear God as he winked at me and got back up on stage.

I quickly went to where Sarah and Jenna were standing, and told them about my encounter.

"Pfft!" Jenna said. "Of course he did Charlotte!" I detected a sarcastic, mocking tone in her voice.

"Ooh," Sarah proclaimed, trying to break the tension between us that had become apparent. "Maybe he'll recognise you at the meet and greet."

With that idea, my heart skipped several beats and excitement paralysed my body.
