Without further ado, I present the Golden & Silver Snitches of 2021 ✨
This book was the best Harry Potter fanfiction I have read in a while. It was so enjoyable and fun to read, with so many details, plot twists, and such a rich plot. The description itself is so compelling, and it made me even more excited to read. The author does a great job using mythology, throughout the story, there are wonderful references to the tale of Hades and Persephone. Something I thought was interesting was that the author used Greek Gods to refer to the character at times, instead of the characters' names. There was so much symbolism in the book. The story is just so original, that you don't know what to expect next. There are barely any cliche plots, which keeps the book interesting.
The characters each have their own story and their own feelings. I love this because it makes everyone likable, as they don't rely on another person for their storyline. The author also makes sure to make no one too out of character and makes everyone realistic. The flow of the story was wonderful, and I appreciated that the author took time to develop each character, instead of rushing the process. This was a breath of fresh air, as a lot of other fanfictions struggle with this. Gamaliel and the Zygos are so interesting, I find it so fascinating how the family is descended from Merlin and Salazar Slytherin, it really highlights their importance in the Wizarding world. Gemma was a realistic character who made mistakes, and I was happy that she was written as an actual human, and not as a perfect character that no one could relate to. Her and Regulas' chemistry was amazing, and the book is a slow burn, which made it so much better than it would have been if the book was fast-paced, another thing that other books struggle with.
