Cinderella & The Hazel-Eyed Prince Charming pt 3

Lani's P.O.V.

I walked into the diner & put on my apron. Felica came in & bumped into me. "You're in my way, Lori." "It's Lani, Felica." My auntie Rhonda walked in. "LORI! Why do you have on those old sneakers? It's scuffing my floors!" I just put my head down & switched my shoes until she left.

"I'm a very appealing person." I heard her say before she left. "I'm a very appealing person." My auntie & I said at the same time. "That woman can make a nun swear." I nodded & worked on some pancakes for the customer who was sitting in a booth.

"So, anything interesting happened at school today?" Auntie Rhonda asked me. "No, just another regular day today." "She lyin'!" Chris came in yelling with his big-ass mouth. "Boy, the hell I told you about all that damn hollering?!" She said raising her voice. "Stop telling people my business, nigga!" I said slapping the back of his head. Luckily, she wasn't around to hear what I said.

"Anyways, the mystery man has talked to our dear Lani today & invited her to the Halloween Dance tonight. But, she's being too much of a pussy to go!" Chris nearly shouted the last part out. "Christopher, what did I tell you about your mouth." "Sorry, Miss Rhonda." Chris apologized.

"Hey, Lani? Can you cover that back table for me please?" Michelle came out wearing her personalized skates. I saw Devante, K-Ci, Dalvin, Jojo, Lyric, Natalie, Vicky, & Andrea. "No way, those kids go to my school. Can't someone else do it?" I looked at Chris but he shook his head. "I don't work here, remember?" Chris said taking a soda from the fridge. "Yeah, but you got to pay for that soda, right?"  Michelle said.

Chris spit the soda out his mouth & looked shocked. "What!" Chris shockingly said while some soda dripped out his mouth. "Chris!" I said. "Chris, you know she just cleaned the floors." My cousin Mary came out giving a napkin to a baby who was messy all over. "Hey, Mary Jane." Chris said irritated, I always forgot the reason why he didn't like her. "What up, Christopher?" 'Never mind, I remember the reason now.'

"Why is my ex, Cedric here?" Mary asked. I shrugged my shoulders & I walked up to the table & there goes Natalie with a look of disgust on her face. "Welcome to the diner, how do want your orders?" I asked putting on my most fakest smile. "What can I have that has no sugar, no calories, & zero fat?" She asked me. It took everything in me not to slap the shit out of her.

"Water." I said bluntly. "Was that a joke?" Vicky asked. I shook my head & tried to ignore them. "It sounds like attitude. I'll take a Voss with two limes." Natalie said. "A what?" I asked. "It's a water from Norway that she drinks." Lyric said bummed out. "Fine, I'll have an iced tea & fast." Natalie said. "Anything else?" I asked getting irritated. "I'll have those burritos." K-Ci said. 

"I just want a cheeseburger please, thanks Lani." Devante said looking into my eyes. 'Man, he is just so damn fine. Snap out of it, Lani. Yo ass is at work.' I thought to myself. "I just want a soda, Lani." Jojo said. I nodded & went right to work.

Devante's P.O.V

'I still can't believe how much we've grown apart since that kiss in 7th grade. Lani looks beautiful.' I thought as Lani went back to start our orders. "So, Devante. Are you going to wear that costume with me?" Natalie asked me. I took a deep breath & just decided to tell her. "Natalie, I don't want to hang out with you anymore." I emphaized on the you. "WHAT!!" She shrieked. "But, we can still be good frie-" "Don't you dare, say friends. You know what, Fuck you! Girls, let's go!" Natalie yelled making a scene, leaving.

"Damn, De. Finally put her in her place." Dalvin said dapping me up. I smiled knowing that I was free from Natalie's attention & I could see my mystery girl. "De, why would you do that? Vicky & Andrea are gone!" K-Ci said running after them. "Ced, you ain't finna have no ride home!" Jojo said. K-Ci still ran after the girls.

"So, mystery girl gonna be there tonight?" Dalvin asked me. I nodded & Lani came up with our things after 45 minutes. "Sorry it took so long guys." Lani said. "It's cool. Are you going to the dance tonight?" I asked her. "Maybe, why are you asking?" She asked. 

"I just wanted to know." "Well, I do have to work so I might not have time." "I'm sorry." "Whatever, it's not your fault." "I'm sorry about what happened after 7th grade." "We were kids, we didn't know any better. It was just a dare." On the inside, I was hurt like a sad puppy. We all got our stuff to go & left the diner but not before Jojo, Dalvin & I tipped Lani with  100 dollar bills each. I felt like she deserved it.

Lani's P.O.V

I smiled knowing that Jojo, Dalvin, & especially Devante left that for me. "Come on, Lani." Auntie Rhonda said. "Where are we going?" I asked. "You, Mary Jane, & Chris are going to that dance." She grabbed our coats & we all headed out to shop for our costumes. Little did I know, I would find the most beautiful dress in my life.
