Juliet, Three Weeks After Surgery
"I have been looking at the same walls for three weeks. I am extremely bored. Do something to entertain me."
"No." He stuck his tongue out at me.
"UUUUGGGGHHHH." I groaned loudly.
"I'm sorry you're bored, love. But you'll have to find something to do. Read a book or magazine, or watch some TV. There's not much you can do for another three weeks."
My stitches had been taken out, and luckily they had taken off very little hair. So I had still had most of my real hair and wouldn't have to use a wig anytime soon. I still had another three weeks in the hospital before they even thought about sending me home. But even then I'd had to be on bed rest for a bit. Which, if you haven't noticed, I'm extremely tired of bed rest. The only times I've gotten up was to go to the bathroom or to my treatments.
At least the boys came and visited as much as possible. Liam was able to get around, hobbling on his crutches. Docs finally gave him the okay to walk around a bit more.
"How are the kids?" I asked.
"They're fine. They miss you tons, but they understand you need to rest."
"I just want to go home already."
"I know, love. Anyways, I've gotta go. I'll be back later, alright?"
"Okay. See you later."
He kissed me on the cheek and left. They've been working overtime in the studio lately, those boys. But it's definitely been worth it. The album had been coming along quickly and amazingly.
Once I finally got bored of playing games on my phone, I turned on the TV and eventually fell asleep.
Three Weeks Later
"Alright... I got all your stuff, and here's your sweatsuit that you wanted."
"Thank you, Niall."
Today...I was finally going home. After being in the hospital for six and a half weeks. I still had to have someone help me do basic things, and I still had to rest a lot, but I was just going HOME. As soon as I was changed out of the hospital gown and into my sweatsuit and regular undergarments, Niall and I were out the door. I had to be wheeled out to the car by hospital procedure, but I didn't care.
As Niall and I pulled into the driveway, the twins rushed out to greet me. I picked Darcy up, trying to bend the smallest amount possible. Jr. took my free hand and we walked into the house, following Niall who carried my bag. As I walked into the living room, I let Darcy down and collected light hugs from Zayn, Lou, Liam and Harry.
"Alright, Jewels. You better get up to your bed. You need anything?" Niall asked.
"Yes, a patient brother."
"Har har, you're hilarious."
"I try. Uhm. Some really food would be nice. Just a sandwich or something."
"Alright, I'll make you something. Oi, talk to Sarah too. You guys need to talk about her doctors appointment that she had while you were in the hospital."
"Right. I'll do that."
I walked up the stairs, getting Sarahs' attention. We hugged, then walked into my room. I got comfortable, and she hopped up on with me. My signing had become slightly rusty from not using for a while, but I got back into it.
"How did it go?" I signed to her.
"It went well. The doctor wanted me to talk to you about something." she signed back
"This thing called the cochlear implant... so I could hear again."
"It's a possibility. We can afford it."
"I know. But.... he didn't exactly give a lot of information."
"Well. It's like a hearing aid, but it's surgically implanted. It can help you hear. You'd be able to start speaking, and maybe not have the sign people in your classes."
"It sounds interesting. Maybe something I'd like to do."
"Well, how about we go to someone who specializes in it, and....get more info. Then you can make a decision."
"Let's do that." she smiled. I smiled back at her when Niall walked in. Sarah went off to do something, waving bye.
"So?" he asked, sitting next to me.
"Well, we'll go see a specialist on it, and then....we'll see what she wants to do."
"You're leaving that up to her?"
"Niall, it's not like we can't afford it. Besides. It'll give her a chance to be able to speak to us, not sign to us. She'd be able to become a normal girl, and in a few years, a normal teenager. I'm not going to force her to get it. She has to want it herself, because it'll be a lot of work getting used it when and if she gets it, and it's not going to be coming out either."
"Alright. I get it. Anyways. Here is...your sandwich. Your Pepsi. Your prescription pain killers if you need them. And your remote. Is there anything else you need?"
"Nope. I think I'm set. And Niall, thank you. For taking care of me so well."
"Hey, you took care of me when I got hit by that car in Mullingar. It's my turn."
We smiled at each other and he walked out. Soon enough, after I had taken a few bites of my sandwich and watched TV for a bit, Keely popped up and layed next to me. I pet her for a few minutes and then she was sound asleep. Ultimately, I was glad I brought her home. She seemed much happier here, having a family.
