24 - Passing the Vibe Check

We sat in a circle, I had my arm in a triangle bandage as support. Jungkook was on my left side and Jimin on my right. Across from me where the guys they called V and Hope, I still didn't know their real names but I had a feeling that Jungkook was going to tell me in a minute.

The guy named Hope looked at me with a sort of smile? His whole appearance was like a little ray of sunshine, which was odd considering I was now in the midst of the most successful robbery gang in the past decades.

The other guy, V, absolutely didn't smile. He looked at me with this very intimidating look. As if I was venom that had infiltrated his life. I tried not to think about the fact this guy might choke me in my sleep, and would have fun doing it.

Jungkook cleared his throat.

     'Thank you all for coming together. I wanted to discuss our way forward. and the way we would be able to go forward.' 

There was a silence in which everyone eyes were fixated on Jungkook.

It really became crystal clear that he was indeed the leader.

     'I'd first like to introduce everyone to each other.'

     'So this is y/n' Jungkook indicated and I awkwardly sat there as if I couldn't talk myself.

    'This is hoseok' Jungkook said while pointing at the sunshine guy. 'hi' Hoseok greeted me nicely.

    'and this is Taehyung.' no words from that guy, he just stared at me angry.

    'and Jimin you know.' Jungkook continued. 

     'pretty well, from what I've heard' Taehyung scoffed 

There was a twitch on Jungkook's face and I noticed that he tensed up.

Jimin shook his head disapprovingly at Taehyung.

And me? I didn't really know where to look, wishing that this awkward moment soon passed.

    'yeah so anyways now you are familiar with each other' Jungkook indicated.

     'So you're joining us?' Taehyung immediately asked when Jungkook finished his sentence.

I shared a glance with Jungkook.

     'not exactly' Jungkook said, but his tone had a hint of nervosity in there. 

Flashback

The following day Jungkook again asked that same question.

Was I going to join them?

I had slept that night perhaps for an hour or two, the rest of the time I was considering my options. Contemplating all the consequences of those options.

No option was truly what I wanted. There was always a drawback. But I did make my decision.

Jungkook was already half on his way out as I didn't answer.

    'I have thought about it' I answered and he stopped in his tracks.

     'You have?'

I nodded and sighed

    'I will not turn you in but I won't join you either.'

His face turned into a sheer surprise.

     'What?' He uttered out while walking closer.

     'I have considered the options, and turning you in will mean that the police force and especially our team will have to go through a lot of public shame, the donations to those charities will stop... ' I paused 'and you will have to go to jail.'

He gazed at me, and there was this moment, in which we both understood what I exactly meant with that latter part.

    'I uh.. okay.. I know this is not an easy decision to say the least so I am very thankful y/n.'

     'We do need to think of a plan to get me back,' I indicated and Jungkook nodded in response.

    'I actually thought of different scenarios, so I have an idea. Let's discuss it and you can let me know if you agree with this plan.' He explained.

I nodded 'I do have some conditions.' I also made clear.

     'That is understandable. Let's also discuss those.. alright?'

I agreed with his proposition. It was odd, it was as if we were partners again, but this time not in the police force. but on the other side of things.

but still together. 

Present Time

Jungkook took a deep breath, as if he already knew this wasn't going to land well with the others.

     'y/n will not join us but she won't turn us in either.'

      'Then why the fuck did you tell her our names?' Taehyung exclaimed angry while raising his hand in incomprehension.

     'because in the end she will be an accomplice if we get caught. We need that bond of trust taehyung.' Jungkook urged.

Taehyung rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Then he turned to me and man did he look angry.

    'okay? so you won't join us but what will you do if we plan another robbery. Because I know Jungkook is currently working on something.'

I already knew as well, because Jungkook had told me. Jungkook had been very open and honest with me since he walked into my room and revealed himself. 

I first looked down but soon back up to face them all, they all waited in anticipation for my answer.

     'I won't stop you, but let me be clear, in case another innocent gets hurt or killed in your operations I will be the first to turn you in. I don't care about the fact I will have to go to jail as well as an accomplice.'

There was a silence until Taehyung suddenly got up.

    'This is such bullshit' he exclaimed frustrated.

      'Tae calm down' Jimin urged in a calm voice.

      'No! we never aim to hurt anyone but if an accident happens that happens, how can we do our job with the pressure this bitch is putting on us. "if we hurt someone she will turn us in"?'

      'Don't call her that' Jungkook snapped back. His voice but also his face showed his evident anger.

     'oh I am so sorry dear leader' Taehyung replied sarcastically.

He then switched his gaze between Jungkook and Jimin

    'You two really need to start thinking with your brain and stop thinking with your dick.'

I was honestly to stunned by this comment that I had no proper reaction.

     'That's enough!'

The tone Jungkook used was one I never had heard him use. All eyes diverted to him.

     'yeah sure, fuck this!' Taehyung gave me one death glare and then stormed out.
