The pain in my chest felt very deep and deep inside, I felt empty and emotionless. I don't know what is happening, but I have a feeling that it had to do with something with me accepting my new heritage. For the past 17 years, I have never felt like this before so this experience befuddled me more than anything.
"Lexi," Dane said softly and his tone just worsened the pain inside me.
"I'm sorry," I said to him and looked at him right in the eye.
Dane was standing on the other side of the room, looking confused, hurt, angry, then impassive. All of those range of emotions occurred within seconds. I don't know how this usually works, but I believe that if a demon blood and a vampire face each other, they would kill each other to the death. And right now, Dane and I are facing each other either as lovers or enemies, I have no clue.
"How is this possible?" He looked towards me, but not right in the eye like he can't bear to look at me.
Even though I should feel hurt, the demon inside allowed me to feel nothing, it was like I had no emotions at all.
"I'm not sure myself, but believe that my biological father was a demon, thus unleashing me into this world," I hollowly replied.
"You know what this means, right?" he asked me and I shrugged.
"I think it means that right now, one of us would walk out of here alive," I replied.
He didn't say anything and we were then interrupted when Xerin and Dane's parents entered the room. To say they were shock would be an understatement, outraged would be more like it.
"Would someone please explained to me what had happened here?" Xerin exclaimed.
Dane refused to look at me and we both remained quiet until those three noticed the my tube of blood on the counter. I took and glanced at it and froze. The blood was no longer red. It was black, like pitch black. Extremely black.
Quickly Xerin flashed towards the blood and held it up into the light.
"Whose is this?" he asked aloud.
Dane's parents immediately flashed next to Xerin and Dane's mother, Quin, looked like she was ready to faint. Devlin looked not at surprised, but rather curious.
I guessed this was my time to speak up.
"It's mine," I said and they all looked at me.
Dane looked surprised, but fixed his expression to be impassive again and once again, I felt nothing.
"Miss McKay please follow to my office," Xerin said sternly.
"Xerin, you should kill her immediately! How could you let this dirty, filthy half-demon just stand there!" Quin snarled, with fangs and all.
She crouched in front of Dane defensively and I turned to face her with an amused expression.
"Really? Even though I'm a dirty half-demon, I'm still smart enough to know whether or not to go on a killing rampage," I smiled sweet acidic smile.
"Relax Quin, Alexandrina is not a threat," Devlin cooed to his wife and I shivered at his voice. It was creepy.
"How would you know? !" Quin growled dangerously.
Devlin smiled cruelly, like he doesn't give a crap about anything, and said the words that change my life forever.
"She's the daughter of Seleria and the Demon King, Lucifer," he smirked.
"She's a Demon Princess," Devlin smirked at me.
He took a few steps towards me before anyone could stop him and said, "Do you know what that means, princess?"
I said nothing and he shook his head in mock disappointment.
"It means that if you die, the Demon world would collapse and vampires would win this war," he stated and I took a few steps back.
"Why?" I managed to croak out.
"Don't you see this, sweetie? Lucifer have been ordering people to kill our kind since the beginning of time. You're is vessel and without you, he will have to die. You and Lucifer has a connection that is shared by Demon blood, which means he needs you to live," he finished.
"Time to die, now," Devlin smiled cruelly and approached me.
The last thing I saw was his hand reaching towards me before my world swirled into blackness. Then I fell into a dark abyss of nothingness.
