A couple of months went by, and Erick had been skipping school a lot. He was a genius that could get into any school he wanted even if he skipped class, so it's not like it mattered in the long run, but it was suspicious as hell. NOW I was sure. He was summoning his army and we were screwed. I went by his house after school, naturally to beg for my life, when I saw him tinkering in his garage. I approached him cautiously, in fear of a demonic hell beast or something attacking me, and he saw me.
Erick: "Ralph? What are you doing here?"
Ralph: "I uh... I was wondering what you were up to. Y'know... since you've missed a lot of school days now..." I said nervously, still wary of the potential threat of a mythical creature from the underworld.
Erick: "I'm working on something." He said bluntly, returning to his work.
Ralph: "Right well uh... um... What's in that book of yours anyway? You're not planning on taking over the world with a demon army from hell, right?!?!"
Erick: "What?"
Ralph: "Y'know! Like, conquering the planet, enslaving humanity, establishing an evil empire with the help of demons like a Shin Megami Tensei villain plot or some shit like that! If you did, you'd spare my life, right!?!?!?!"
Erick: "Ralph, what the fuck are you talking about?"
Ralph: ". . ."
Erick: ". . ."
Ralph: "...So... You're NOT gonna take over the world...?"
Erick: "No, don't be foolish. My book's got nothing to do with world domination."
I was relieved, and felt really silly to have thought as much, but I could not stop my growing curiosity from getting the better of me.
Ralph: "Well... If it's not about world domination, Then... what?"
Erick: "Nonya."
Ralph: "Nonya? What's that mean?"
Erick: "Nonya business."
Ralph: "Oh, come one! Tell me! I've been thinking about what that "Chaos Code" thing for months now!"
Erick: "So?"
Ralph: "So! I wanna know!"
Erick: *sighs* "You're gonna bother me about it for the rest of our high school years until I tell you, right?"
Ralph: "...Pretty much, yeah."
Erick: "Alright... Fine. I'll tell you."
'YES!' I thought, finally I'll find out what's on that book of his with the silly, yet ominous name!
Erick: "I developed a mathematical equation to construct a vessel for human travel capable of traveling OUT of our galaxy, and how it works. Obviously this has never been done before, and this kind of information is dangerous if anyone found out about it. Also I don't want anybody to steal my idea and take credit for it, so I made up my own alphabet and language. Everything I write in this book is in that language, but it's also encrypted, so even if someone knows the language, they need to decrypt the messages, which nobody has access to the private key because I made up this encryption myself to keep it secret. Basically, unless you know the language AND the key to my encryption, you'll never know what's written in this book. I want to be the first to see it, intelligent extraterrestrial life... I want to learn the TRUE wonders of the universe. So nobody can learn how to do it before *I* get the chance to do it."
Ralph: "...Well shit. That's, like, way better than what I thought your book was for!"
Erick: "Just promise you won't tell anyone. I still need to solidify my theory and test this out before I can actually do it."
Ralph: "Only if you bring me along for the ride."
Erick: "Deal."
The End.
