Lana's POV:

Mildred drove Lana back to the motel even though she was perfectly capable of driving her own car, but Dr Hanover clearly had a hold on the older woman that made her jump to his every demand; which didn't sound like Mildred at all.

The car ride was painfully awkward with a deafening silence that settled around them both. It seemed as though Mildred was angry about something with the vice like grip she had on the steering wheel. Of course, the brunette didn't dare ask, so instead fixed her gaze on the outside world.

Once they arrived at the motel Lana hesitantly thanked Mildred for the ride before stepping out of the car. The older woman hadn't bothered to offer her a response, however she stared after Lana as she entered the Motel, the brunette could physically feel holes being singed into her back, and when she turned to close the door behind her, Mildred was still parked outside.

Why was the older woman so mad at her? It couldn't possibly be for something as minor as having to leave work for 10 minutes whilst she drove her home. No, Mildred had seemed as though she wanted to kill Lana. What was with the sudden change in attitude? Earlier, in the bathroom Lana had detected a sliver of kindness within the older woman, it was only small but it was there. What had Lana done in that short amount of time to piss her off so much?

Upon entering her room, Lana headed straight for the bathroom to brush her teeth to get rid of the horrible, bitter taste in her mouth. Her mind was still fixated on the older woman, it pretty much had been since she'd started working at Lucia State. The woman both intrigued and instilled the fear of god into her. As her mind continued to wander in the direction of Mildred, she failed to hear someone enter her room and almost had a heart attack when she walked out to find the nurse stood by the door.

"You just can't help yourself can you?" She muttered, her face impassive but her voice full of anger.

With a hand on her chest, feeling the heavy pump of her heart against her fingers as she tried to get over the minor scare Mildred had inflicted on her, Lana's brows furrowed in confusion. "Excuse me?" Her voice came out quiet, a breathless pant.

"You've barely been here 5 minutes and you're already stealing procedures from me!" She growled, stepping forward, invading Lana's personal space as she loomed over her.

The fear was long gone replaced by anger and irritation with the accusations Mildred was throwing at her. "What the hell are you talking about?" Lana's tone was laced with frustration as she firmly stood her ground, refusing to give into the intimidation that the older woman was clearly trying to use on her.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about! The lobotomy you stole from me!"

Ah, so that's what she was talking about. The brunette rolled her eyes, sidestepping past the older nurse. "I didn't steal anything from you.. Dr Hanover wouldn't take no for an answer.. I don't even want to do the stupid procedure so by all means you're welcome to it."

Mildred was silent for a moment as she studied the other woman, confusion etched into her delicate features. "Anyone would kill to be one of the first people to perform a procedure like that.." It was more of a statement, spoken as if Lana should already be aware, but the brunette detected a question buried somewhere underneath Mildred's words.

"Yeah, well not me." Lana shot back dismissively. "I think the whole thing is just.." the brunette threw her hands in the air, struggling to find the right word to use as she turned to face the older woman. "Absolutely ridiculous." She settled with, and she wasn't finished there as this newfound adrenaline mixed with slight infuriation shot through her at lightening speed.

"You really think that by drilling a hole into someone's skull, it's going to reverse their sexuality? Or suddenly cure any mental health issues they may have? Please, that's absurd." Lana was going off on a tangent now, not realising that the older woman had almost closed the distance between them. Lana could practically feel the heat radiate off Mildred's body.

"It's a little more complex than that." The older nurse said, her tone laced with just a hint of amusement. What the fuck is it with this woman and her sudden mood changes? Lana thought to herself.

"Really?" The brunette questioned. "Because all I saw was Dr Hanover drill into a mans skull and claim that when he woke he would be a whole different person." As she quoted what the man had said, Lana lowered her tone mocking Dr Hanover, which to her surprise made Mildred's lips pull into a smirk.

"So, if you want the procedure so desperately then go right ahead, be my guest Mildred because I-" a sudden shock ran through Lana's body, and she had to blink a few times to make sure she was actually awake and not dreaming when Mildred crashed her lips down onto Lana's abruptly shutting her up.

For a few, long moments Lana had forgotten what she was going to say as her lips slowly began to move, her body relaxing slightly. Mildred gripped hold of Lana's hips, pushing her back against the bed where the brunette fell bringing the older woman down on top of her.

Mildred began to move more desperately now, tongue slipping past parted lips claiming her dominance. What the fuck is happening? Was all that was going through Lana's mind, but damn it felt so good.

The brunette trailed her fingertips ever so gently up Mildred's back, before moving to cup her face running the pads of her thumbs over the apples of her cheeks. The skin beneath was warm to touch, indicating a soft blush was about to form which was ironic considering the way Mildred's tongue worked its way around Lana's mouth.

Now it all made sense, she made perfect sense. At work she was putting on this facade, and Lana was now getting to experience the real her.

Suddenly, Lana was left breathless and rather flustered as Mildred hastily pulled away, all colour drained from her face as she hovered above the younger woman.

"I'm not a.." her voice was so low and she couldn't even finish her sentence, but Lana understood what she was about to say.

"It's ok if you-"

"I'm not!" Mildred yelled in frustration as she straightened up, smoothing out non existent wrinkles in her uniform. "Stay the hell away from me!" She growled before storming out, leaving a very confused Lana in her wake.

The brunette sat up, heart racing, limbs trembling as she stared at the door Mildred had just slammed. If working with the older woman wasn't already unbearable enough, it definitely was going to be now.
