A Curse of Luck (A kidnapped story) (14)

Start from the beginning

The stranger turned his head to me and looks me over, but then returns his attention to Will. He takes a step to him and Will gets ready to lunge, but thankfully the long black haired man who I think is the captain steps in between the two.

So I go over to Will to get him to stop this before he gets himself killed.

"Will stop, you need to calm down."

He looks down at me, because he has a good five inches on me. He growls at me, really growls like a wild animal. It makes me flinch slightly, but I try to stay calm, he's not going to hurt me.

I think, at least I hope not.

I take a hold of his arms, "please Will, calm down, and take a deep breath everything going to be okay, so please stop."

I look deep into those electrifying eyes, not really caring if I did get lost into them this time, because they're just so enchanting I can't help myself.

Plus I hope It will calm and sooth him into returning to his normal self.

There is a slight growl that comes from his throat, but it isn't as threatening like the last one it's hard to explain it.

He closes his eyes and takes a few deep breaths. Then when he opens his eyes again they're his normal dark blue, still amazing but not glowing full of hate.

"Whitney, are you ok? I didn't hurt you did I?" He pushes me back slightly, looking me over for any injuries, I guess.

"No, no, I'm fine you didn't hurt me. I'm okay. What about you, you crashed into all that glass you must be bleeding or something."

“I’m- I'm- just, I'm a little confused what happened?"

"What do you mean, you don't reme," But I was interrupted by the stranger guy.

"Get out of my way Water demon, you're keeping me from what is rightfully mine, now move."

(Right fully his, this guy is sick. What is he even talking about?)

"She is your slave than?" The captain finally speaks.

"You might say that, I did purchase her."

My mind go's blank for a few minutes trying to piece everything he said together: slave, purchase, she belongs to me.

OH MY GOD, he's the person who bought me back at the auction place. That explains everything, why didn't I see it before, how stupid of me.

I look at Will and I can see him tense up at the news. Then he looks at me, and he can tell this makes me very uneasy, so he grabs my hand and pulls me close to him.

"So then you have a document that proves this?" asks the Captain.

"Of course I do, though I have no obligation to show you them."

"But you do, because it seems to me that she is in fact Will's slave and you're trying to steal her." "So if you don't show me this document, I must assume you're lying, and she is fair game."

You can't tell what the stranger’s facial expression is because of the hooded cloak, but if I would have to guess I would say very pissed off.

"Fine then I will show you." his voice comes out very tight confirming my earlier assumption that he is indeed pissed.

He sticks his hand inside his cloak and removes a role of papers, which he then tosses to the Captain. He unrolls them and scans them over.

Only seconds go by as he reads though them, but to me it feels like time has slowed down.

What did they say?

What is going to happen to me if he's right?

What will I do?

What would Will do? More questions begin to from in my head. More questions that I fear the answer to.

"Hm interesting, it says here that you in fact did not purchase her."

"Excuse me, of course I did. I was the highest bidder so she became mine after I paid."

"No, according to this a Lord Tempest Adan purchased her, and ant sensible demon has heard of Lord Adan, you are most certainly not him."

...............

"Nothing to say I see, well then the slave belongs to Will."

"Wait, you are right, but he purchased her on my behalf. I was sent to collect her after she and that demon escaped."

"Escape you say," he turns and glanced at Will then me and back to the stranger.

"Well, that makes no difference. This world may be in disarray because of the war, but the slave laws are still strongly enforced."

"I'm very aware of this."

"Then you must know you have no claim over her, unless Lord Adan signs her over to you formally."

"Yes, but there is no one present to enforce those laws."

"No there is not, but I think you’re out number here six to one."

"Why would a Captain of your status want to help a lowly demon, and a human?"

"My reasons are none of your concern, Will and I have simply become good friends, and I take care of my friends. So I suggest you take your leave, and bring Lord Adan with you if he wants his property back."

My mind is spinning with all sorts of different thoughts over what was just said.

I'm nothing but property to these people. The more time I'm in this world the more unanswered question seem to form. Plus it's giving me a huge migraine, and making me kind of queasy.

I look to Will, and he seems a bit shocked, but I can't blame him.

"Fine then, I guess I have no other choice." The stranger steps to the door but not before turning to me. "Whitney do not worry, I will come for you, and you will understand more in time."

With that he disappears in a formation of fog, if you can believe this, because I'm having a hard time doing so.

Also why did he keep talking to me as if he were protecting and helping me? From what I heard his boss or whoever it is was the one that bought me.

No good person would ever do anything like that.

I will understand in time, what does that mean. It just confuses me more, and adds to my migraine.

Man I'm not feeling to hot my head is pounding, and my stomach feels extremely queasy. Then all of a sudden I become dizzy and the room seems to spin. I instinctively grab onto Will trying not to fall.

"Whitney, Whitney what's wrong?" But his voice starts to fade. I'm trying desperately to keep my eyes open, but with how I'm feeling I just want to relax.

So I let go and let darkness consume me.
