SECRETS AND LIES

General Kirigan led her all the way up to her room, two guards constantly tailing them and eventually taking on their positions just outside of her door, on the general's orders.

Tatia was still clutching her flowers, and she walked up to the drawers of one of her closets. She found what she was looking for right away; a glass vase, which she then filled with water from the bathroom. She placed the bouquet in the water and put the vase on her nightstand, where she would be able to admire it all day long.

She turned back to General Kirigan and noticed that he had been watching her every move through longing eyes, and once she finally acknowledged him again, he wasted no time in striding up to her and placing both of his hands on either side of the girl, trapping her against the wall.

"The gathering downstairs will probably manage without us," he muttered lowly, his voice nearly a whisper as he spoke quietly into her ear, "don't you think?"

"I think so," Tatia replied, her eyes captivated by his chocolate brown ones before he, for the second time that evening, captured her lips in a kiss. It felt just as wonderful as the first.

Tatia's hands moved on their own accord as they tangled into his hair, pulling on the strands softly. Kirigan seemed to like it, as he kissed her more feverishly, more desperately than before.

He lifted the girls legs, making her clench them around his hips as he carried her to the bed, not breaking the kiss even once.

He laid her down gently, though his eyes were exceptionally dark as he pulled away (something he had to force himself to do). "Are you sure?" he asked in a raspy voice, the breaths he took shorter than usual.

Tatia had to think about it, really think about it for a moment. Something which was damn hard to do when Kirigan was looking at her like that.

Eventually, she made up her mind. Everything Genya had told her about this was swimming through her brain as she nodded, which was all the answer he needed.

He instantly went back to kissing her, his body positioned above her as she was laying down in the bed. His fists clenched the white sheets of the bed furiously, trying to somewhat control himself.

And then, there was a knocking on the door.

General Kirigan appeared like he would be perfectly content just ignoring the sound and continuing what they were doing, but Tatia pushed him away by his chest slightly, and he instantly cursed whoever was on the other side of the door with swear words he didn't even know he possessed.

"Yes?" he nearly growled, as his furious stare was fixated upon the door like it was the reason for all of his troubles.

There was no answer - whoever was on the other side on the door either hadn't heard him, or they had, and were so afraid at the tone he had used that they didn't dare speak up.

Either way, General Kirigan got up from the bed, and Tatia hoisted herself up into a seating position as she tried to calm her racing heart.

"What is it?" Kirigan asked lowly, as soon as he opened the door just a tad. He was planning on returning to the girl as soon as possible.

Ivan was stood at the other side of the door, and he gulped, paralyzed with fear at the look in the general's eyes. "Marie and Genya were attacked in the fitting room," he stammered quietly, knowing that Tatia was in the room behind him, and not wanting the girl to overhear and become upset. "Alina was the target. We have a suspect in custody."

Kirigan was silent for a moment, trying to get his thoughts in order. He desired nothing more than to shut the door in the Heartrender's face and return to Tatia at once, but he knew that he couldn't. The Sun Summoner was important for his plan, and so an intended attack on her shouldn't be ignored. "Wait here," he muttered, closing the door once more and returning to Tatia, who perked up once the door closed again.
