"She's coming."

On the porch of an abandoned cabin tucked away in the mountains, a woman stands with unfocused eyes. A necklace dangles from her extended hand, swaying softly in the gentle breeze of the Rocky Mountains. She clutches it tightly, an impression of the tiny metal links pressing into her soft hands.

"When?"

A man stands behind her, hands poised on his hips as he glowers at the woods that surround the cabin, searching for answers he didn't have the power to grasp. The woman's eyes flicker towards the cloudless sky for a moment before she answers firmly.

"Seven days after the next moon's turn."

His hands slide over her shoulders, squeezing gently. He doesn't notice the concerted effort she makes to not tense up.

"And the girl is the key? We can finally do this?"

She gathers the necklace carefully in her hand, turning to meet his hardened gaze.

"It will be done."
