Lana's POV:

"So Lana, are you feeling ok?" Dr Hanover asked, pausing his current task as the brunette entered his office. "I noticed you looked rather.. unwell during the procedure I just demonstrated."

Lana shifted uncomfortably under his piercing gaze, a light blush creeping up the back of her neck. "Just a stomach bug, I'm fine." She lied, still feeling an unsettling amount of nauseousness in the pit of her stomach accompanied by the pounding drum and bass in her head; hoping the pill she took would kick in soon.

"Are you sure? You look white as a ghost." He commented. Lana knew that must have been a lie considering how warm her cheeks felt.

"I'm ok, Nurse Ratched gave me something to take. I feel much better now." Another lie.

"Very well.." he smiled. There was a slight pause as he regarded the woman. Lana didn't know whether to leave or not but then Dr Hanover spoke again. "So what did you think?" He asked, leaning forward slightly, elbows resting on the desk.

The brunette furrowed her brows in confusion but before she had a chance to speak, Dr Hanover clarified what he was asking. "Of the procedure?" He added.

Lana's brain fumbled for a response, after a few long seconds she finally settled with; "I've never seen anything like it."

Dr Hanover's lips twitched into a small smile as he nodded his head slowly. "Well, it's about time this hospital was introduced to intricate procedures like that, and maybe, just maybe we'll be able to cure such sick and twisted minds and rid our patients of their horrible diseases."

I'd hardly call liking the same sex, sick and twisted, the brunette thought to herself as she bit the inside of her cheek to refrain from saying anything she shouldn't. Something told her that if she offered Dr Hanover the same comments as Nurse Ratched, she'd be out of the hospital quicker than it took to perform a lobotomy. Instead a strained smile tugged at her lips, as she averted her gaze.

"Is there any particular reason you called me in here, Dr Hanover?" Lana questioned, keeping her voice light and steady as her dark eyes locked with his.

"Ah yes," he started, leaning back in his chair. "I would like for you to perform a lobotomy on one of our patients tomorrow.. with my assistance of course." He added, probably in response to the look of alarm and dread plastered on Lana's face as she made no attempt to hide it. There was absolutely no chance in hell she was doing that.

"Dr Hanover, with all due respect I don't think that's such a good idea.." she shook her head, but the man was having none of it. He simply waved her concerns away with a light chuckle.

"You'll be fine Miss Winters, I'll be there to guide you."

The brunette wanted to ask why? Why Lana and not Mildred or Nurse Bucket? Or even that young girl, Nurse Dolly. Out of all the nurses he could have chosen for this, why did it have to be Lana? Was he growing suspicious?

The brunette fumbled for a response, the nauseous feeling escalating as she willed herself not to throw up all of Dr Hanover's desk. "B-but I've never performed a procedure like that before." I've never performed any kind of procedure.. not since I was training to be a nurse, but even then, I dropped out before I could do any type of surgical procedure as precise as a lobotomy; Lana thought to herself, stricken with panic. Plus, she didn't agree with the procedure and now she was supposed to perform one? What if something went wrong? What if she accidentally killed a patient?

"A lobotomy is one of the most simplest procedures there is, Miss Winters, and you're going to perform one."

Lana opened her mouth to protest some more but the voice that came out of her mouth wasn't hers, she heard Mildred speak before she saw her; unaware of her presence at first.

"Do you really think that's such a good idea, Dr Hanover?" The older woman questioned, and for the first time since being in the hospital, Lana agreed with her. "Miss Winters has been here for all of 5 minutes.. where as I've been here for more than a year." Lana noticed that Mildred seemed rather annoyed about the whole situation. Her brows furrowed slightly and when her gaze met Mildred's, she was shot with a disapproving glare; the one that Lana was all too familiar with.

"Surely I would be more suitable, no..?" There was a hopeful note to the woman's voice.

Dr Hanover's gaze jumped to Nurse Ratched, the smile on his face faltering slightly as he shook his head. "Miss Winters will be performing the procedure.. you're more than welcome to observe."

Lana felt like she might throw up again, her hand slowly glided to her mouth trying not to make it obvious, but clearly failing when 2 sets of eyes locked on her. "Go home Miss Winters, get some rest. You have a big day tomorrow." His gaze flicked back to Mildred. "Nurse Ratched, see to it that she gets home ok."

Mildred groaned quietly, holding a rather irritated look on her face. "So I'm a chauffeur now as well as a babysitter?" She retorted, making the younger woman feel like an inconvenience.

Dr Hanover didn't respond, just dismissively waved both women away as his attention was claimed by the paperwork on his desk.

A few seconds passed before Nurse Ratched turned on her heel, storming out of the office with Lana trailing behind her like a scolded child.
