DICORE [NO LONGER UPDATING]

Chapter 2

I sit up in bed. That might have been the best dream I've ever had. Maybe also one of the strangest. I look over at the burning red clock. 

5:00 AM.

Maybe I could go fight that dragon now. Nobody would know that I'm gone. They're all still asleep.

The sunlight creeps through the crack in the curtain. I get out of bed and open the window. The pink sunrise climbs up into the blue sky. The clouds float on the horizon like oil on water. Just below them is the wreckage of everybody else's homes, all the restaurants, shops, everything. And everything's quiet. Not even the birds dare to whisper.

I think the invasion might be over. I'm not quite sure.

I close the window again and stretch, yawning. Suddenly, I remember my sword. I sigh and put my boots on, and throw on my cloak. I grab the sword and a bag. I sneak downstairs, grabbing some snacks from the kitchen. Chips, some cookies, an apple and a bottle of water. I stuff them into the bag and head out the door.

I didn't think I'd get this far.

The sun has almost completely risen, and I can see the fallen telephone poles, the broken houses, insulator spilling from the holes in their walls. 

So this is what an invasion does? I grip the sword tightly in anger.

The magic flame shoots from the end, and I nearly fall over in shock. Then I stare down at the fire.

I survived, didn't I? Can't do this?

I put the sword in my bag, and I start running.

"ALEXANDRIA HILL!" I scream at nothing in particular, sprinting across the wreckage. Every empty canal, ruined bus station fills me with more and more drive. My red cloak flows behind me in the wind. I feel like I'm closer to the sky than ever with this journey.

This dragon's no match for me.
