It had been a week since America started walking and I brought her back to our room. She was ordered to be on bed rest and I fully followed through with doctors orders. She was not getting out of bed at all. I also refused to let her work. Any work that she was supposed to do, I either gave it to my advisors, did it myself, or put it in a pile to look at later. Today was her check up to make sure she was good to go. I looked up at the clock and read 2:15. Getting up, I shut the file I was working on and put it in its rightful place. I shut my office door and made my way over to our room. When I opened the door, I saw America sitting in the window soaking in the sun. She looked absolutely breathtaking! I stood in the doorway admiring her beauty before she realized I was there. She turned her head towards me and gave me a smile. I returned it before making my way over and sitting next to her.

"We better get going. We don't want to be late for your appointment" I said.

I stood up and held out my hand for her, which she took. "Of course," she responded. She interlaced her fingers with mine and together we made our way to the hospital wing.

About a half hour later, we were standing talking to the doctor.

"Well, your majesty, looks like you're all recovered. You are all clear to return to your normal schedule."

"Thank you and please, call me America"

The doctor nodded and left.

We were walking out of the hospital wing when America started talking. "Will you actually let me work now?"

I pretended to think about it, "I guess" I huffed. I looked over just in time to see her let out a small giggle.

Her face then went serious. She let go my my arm and turned to face me. There was a moment of hesitation on her face and then was instantly gone. "Maxon, it's almost been 2 years since my father passed. I want to go back to Carolina."

As she said the part about her father, her eyes became distant. I knew she was very close to him and missed him dearly. Then I thought about it some more. She wanted to leave me. I thought things were going so well, why does she want to leave? I must have done something wrong.

She noticed my panic and gripped my hands tightly to give me security. " It's not like that! I just want to go and visit the house for a few days. It'll give me some nice memories of him."

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. " America, with you being the queen now, it's extremely risky." Her eyes were begging me to let her go. " You would have to take multiple guards with you." I paused for a minute as a though occurred to me. I haven't see her old house yet, and I would very much like to. " I'm going to clear my schedule and come with you. We can stay 2-3 days."

As soon as the words left my mouth she squealed and pulled me into a tight hug. " Perfect, we'll leave tomorrow! Thank you!"
