"Jimin?!"

The bell rang as you opened the door to Cafe Magnate. You and Jimin were drying yourselves beneath the air conditioner's strong wind when someone emerged from the office door. Jaw dropping, your boss's face lit up in sheer joy and surprise, running over to hug the boy beside you. Jimin had a warm and big smile on his face as he hugged back the smaller man. You were confused for a moment but it all made sense to you in a single second.

"JIMIN?!" a female voice asked in disbelief.

Jimin's name rang louder in the cafe as your boss's wife appeared out of the back office with the same flabbergasted expression. Her eyes suddenly landed on you.

"... and [Y/N]?" she added after running and hugging Jimin, matching your previous confusion.

You smiled shyly, bowing instantly and greeting the couple politely. The other employees were staring at the two of you as well, causing your cheeks to turn pink.

"We met by the bus stop. The rain is terrible!" Jimin explained, giggling at their confused faces.

"Yes! I forgot my umbrella and it's a relief that Jimin saw me on time." you continued timidly, nodding your head and thanking Jimin endlessly.

"He didn't even say he's coming home today!" Mrs. Park exclaimed in feigned anger, her eyebrows furrowing comically.

"I thought you were still in Seoul when I called you last night?!" Mr. Park, your boss and Jimin's father, added to his wife's short jabs on their son.

Jimin giggled, clearly amused by his parents.

"My surprise will be ruined then! I finished my requirements early and quickly rode the bus to our house," Jimin said, "... but I only saw Jihyun and he's still asleep." he continued, giggling once more.

"Oh, son. We could've waited for you if you told us!" Mrs. Park pouted, holding the boy by his full cheeks.

You found yourself smiling while watching them. Chancing upon families bickering like the Parks always made you feel warm. When you were a child, you imagined this was what it would be like to have parents look after you. You secretly watched other kids get adopted and yearned for that same experience. You remembered how your heart ached; and even when you were in your early teen years, reading Jungkook's letters and seeing your classmates with their parents on graduation or other school events, made you dream even more.

Once you grew older, you still felt the same endearment in seeing parents and their child, like a runny egg yolk oozing down to your heart. The only difference now, you no longer expected that you would have them and experience the same.

"We left early today since we're welcoming [Y/N] to her first day on the job." Mr. Park gazed at you, instantly snapping you out of your trance.

Your eyes widened as you bowed again in gratitude.

"Oh! Thank you so much, Mr. and Mrs. Park. I'm very grateful that you accepted me here." you genuinely said, even if appearing a little too much.

"Of course, [Y/N]. Now that Jimin's here, you can ask him for help if ever you feel shy around us since we're old." Mrs. Park noted in a lighthearted way, making you giggle along with them.

"Speaking of, you're really working right away? You just got home!" Mr. Park asked his son with concern lacing his face.

Jimin let out a small laugh, nodding his head.

"Of course, dad! I miss being a barista here and I promised I would help." he said dotingly.

Mr. Park heaved a defeated sigh, nodding his head.
