26- The Beacon

Adora's PoV

We drove in silent for a while, (AC/N) still in my arms, head deep bury on my neck. I refused to let go of her, even when I our friends told me I should get some rest. She seems slightly better, well, she was still hurt, tortured, cut, burned and who knows what else but she was at least breathing steady now and her skin was less pale than before, also her wounds even though terrifyingly fresh they stopped bleeding

It she was burning up in fever, she has been for a while now and it doesn't seem it was getting better and this was worrying me, it was not good for someone to have fever for so lon, especially as hot as she was. Mermista has been trying to cool it down with her water magic but it's not working, she placed cold water around her forehead and on the base of the back of her neck but nothing has changed

Eventually we finally made it out of the Fright Zone and into the Whispering Woods, where Sea Hack stopped the skiff and I realized just now that I've been so worry about (AC/N) that I didn't have time to think about all that happened back in the Horde

"How could I let this happen?" I whisper more to myself than the other, my voice cracking miserablely in pain

"Adora, it's not your fault" Bow tries to comfort me

"It IS my fault. Entrapta's gone because of my plan.... (AC/N) is..." my throat closed in pain as I look down at her. Wanting nothing more than to see her open her beautiful eyes and look back at me with that unconditional love in them

"....They torture her because and I couldn't protect her.... you guys got kidnapped because I was so focus on stopping Catra tha.." I sobs miserably but Glimmer stops me

"Adora it's not your fault... And if (Y/N) was awake right now, she would say the same" she smiles reassuring but I see sadness in her eyes

'Yes she would but that doesn't change what happened to her. It doesn't change that I wasn't there for her'

"This only happened because we were all together" Mermista says looking away

"Mermista's right, being together makes us vulnerable" Perfuma agrees sadly

"Maybe there's a reason the Princess Alliance fell apart before. Maybe this whole thing was a bad idea" Mermista whispers, crossing her arms and looking down

"Mermista, no, you can't say that" Glimmer begs sadly

"Whatever. I don't want to be a part of it anymore. Sea Hawk, take me home" Mermista grunts a little angry. Glimmer looks around and then at me for help but I look down at (AC/N)

After driving for hours in the Whispering Woods, Sea Hack left us in Bright Moon and then continue to leave our friends to their homes. No one spoke after the princess alliance broke apart

As we walk to the castle I can't stop looking down at (AC/N) in my arms, just checking that she was still with me, the thought that I could lose her made my chest feel painfully tight. She was still unconscious, her wounds as bad as they are stopped bleeding a while ago, after I cleaned them with water and then wrapped them with Glimmer's cape. She was still breathing a little too slow and short and her skin felt like ice and was sickly pale
