"We've been over this a thousand times," Rachel said, holding her head in her hands.

"Oh, come on. It's not like you're so perfect," I said. "Besides, I apologized a thousand times."

"Not good enough," Rachel said, fixing her eyes on mine.

"I swear I looked both ways a thousand times, and--"

"And--"

"And I shouldn't have run over your dog."

Rachel shook with sobs. "He wasn't just some 'dog.' He was, besides you, my best friend."

"So, I'll buy you another dog," I said.

"Don't you get it?" Rachel shouted. "I don't want another dog. I want Kipper back."

I threw my hands in the air. "Well, I'm not sure what you want me to do."

"I want you to fucking listen to me and stop talking over me. Damn it."

I leaned forward in my chair. "I'm all ears."

"We have a thousand square foot back yard."

"And?"

Rachel raised a pistol. "And that's where I'm going to fucking bury you."
