✟ Chapter Twenty-One: Missing Puzzle Pieces ✟

"Thank you." 

             Angel grabs a cup of water and gulps it down. He chuckles as he scratches the back of his head, "Erm, hehe....could I get some food. I'm super hungry. Like literally starving to death!" Angel cries out as he hears his stomach grumbling loudly. 

            Everyone laughs at him, "What do you want to eat? There's not too much of a wide variety of food here." Lars says as he stands up and walks to the door, ready to head out to the cafeteria. 

"Honestly, just bring me anything and everything. I'll fucking garble it down!" 

            Sonya and Judah both stand up as well, "We'll help you with that food. I'm gonna grabs something for me as well." Judah says as he walks out the room with the other two following him. 

            The doors close and room is suddenly quiet.

            Angel lays back down in his bed and stares up at the ceiling, thinking to himself. 

"So this Lyla girl, she and her team are gonna be groupe with us when its time to fight?" Angel curiously ask's as he glances at Jet. 

         He nods his head. 

"What are they like?" 

"They are an interesting bunch, I'll tell you that. But we won't know till we train with them. From what we know so far; they are more than capable of taking care of themselves." Charel says as she thinks back on Souxie and Manny. 

           Karlyn nods her head, "Plus they have some interesting abilities. Together I think they make a really perfect team. It's a little overwhelming really." Karlyn softly says the last part to herself.

          Everyone looks at her in disbelief of what she said, "What do you mean?" Keoki curiously asks her. 

"I mean they like seem to know each other pretty well, like they KNOW each other." 

         Redrick scoffs as he shake shis head. "Yeah that because they've been here in safety and had the time to actually get to know each other and train. We rarely got the opportunity to sit and chit chat on the way here. We were constantly on the move so we weren't killed." 

             Jet nods his head, agreeing.

"But now that we have a few days to spare, we should get to know each other a little more. Lets train together as a team and become a complete team." Charel happily says as she glances at everyone. 

"We can't be a complete team until Brian, Joan, Reanne, Otit and Rai are here with us again." Angel says as he sits up and looks at Charel.

"We can't sit around and wait for them to get back here. Lets try and perfect our team so we're more prepared." Jet says as he and Angel stare at each other, the room changes as the emotions of everyone begins to unravel. 

           Angel nods his head, "I'm not saying we shouldn't train as a team, what I'm trying to say is that we won't be a complete team until they get back to us. They are the last pieces to our puzzle."

"I understand what your trying to say Angel. I know it exactly." Riley says, much to everyone's surprise. Angel smiles at him.

"Thank you! Finally someone gets it!" Angel chuckles as he smiles even brighter at Riley.

"We'll start training tomorrow morning. We're gonna have a barely enough time to do this, so be prepared everyone." Jet warns them all, they nod their heads. Jet stands up and heads to the door. 

"You've changed." Angel simply says to him. Jet stops at the door, his hand on the door knob. 

"In what way?" 

"You've grown in a good way, dummy. But you've also grown into a great leader. Joan and Brian would be so proud of the man you've become." 

            Jet smiles as he nods his head and walks out the room, the door slowly closes behind him. 

           Riley frowns as he looks back at Angel, "Was he not always this calm and collected all the time?" 

             Riley looks to the Red Hearts then to Angel, they all shake their heads no. 

"What was he like before?" Riley curiously ask's, Karlyn, Keoki and Riley stare at Angel waiting for a response. 

"He was a slacker and a clown really. He never took anything seriously, he didn't even take this journey seriously at first. He just fooled around when we began, it wasn't until the Dragon came into play did it finally dawn on him that this was life or death. He was stuck in his own form of life because he never experienced life above ground." Angel says as he stares at the door. 

             Jet leans his head back against the door to Angels room, listening to everything Angel was saying. 

"Joan and I actually didn't think he would ever change. Jet wasn't originally going to be on the team, it was going to be some other Black Heart. But Joan wanted her little brother along side her, so she could keep an eye on him. So she talked to the Director and persuaded him to allow Jet to come instead. Little did we know that by the time we would arrive here, Jet would be a completely different person than before. He's much more attendent and not so much in his head." Angel looks away from the door, already knowing Jet was there. 

"I see now. I guess he has grown a lot." Riley says as he too glances at the door. 

            Angel nods his head, "All he needed was to get out of the Facility and experience something new. He didn't have a purpose before and now he does. I can feel it...Jet's going to become an even greater and stronger man that before in these next few days. Just you watch." Angel says before smiling brightly. 

           A tear trickles down the side of Jets face as he pushes off the door and makes his way down the hall.
