Chapter 7

(3rd Person)

When resting in beds, one would never expect the things they first see when they awaken. For some, it's the sun, others it's birds. For (Y/N) though, the first thing he spots when opening his eyes after his well-deserved rest was a rather... short person, in black clothing and... oh wait, it's the Kakushi, staring at him directly in the eyes while kneeling slightly. (Y/N)'s expression immediately became one of annoyance at seeing the Kakushi in front of him, who jumped at seeing the open eyes but took a deep breath.

Kakushi: Good morning, (Y/N) (L/N). You have been summoned by the Hashira and the convicted Tanjiro Kamado for special purposes in subduing his demon sister.

(Y/N): What...?

While letting out the tired response, (Y/N) closed one eye, yawning while stretching his arms high while slowly leaving the futon still in his usual garbs which he would probably need to wash later. He then sighed, looking down at the significantly smaller person who didn't seem the least bit intimidated by their sudden change in height. Instead, the Kakushi got to his feet, looking right up at (Y/N) with a slight glare that gave (Y/N) the impression he was most likely in some trouble, and considering it was to do with Nezuko, those thoughts were quite... solid.

Kakushi: As I said, you've been summoned by the Hashira to...

(Y/N): I get that... I'm just asking why I was summoned...? Nezuko's got Tanjiro with her, doesn't she? Why do I need to be there to...

Kakushi: According to reports from one Zenitsu Agatsuma, he claimed that while Tanjiro is the elder brother of the demon, you seem to be the one she's closest to... that, and all three in that group designated you their leader so you must attend any disciplinary hearing that any of your subordinates are a part of.

(Y/N): Huh... they're really making me the leader of their group after all... fine... I needed some exercise to help me wake up anyway.

Kakushi: Exercise!? You're not going to duel against the...

All the Kakushi got in return was a deadpan expression from the boy as he sighed, slowly getting to his feet and cracking his neck and any other joint that needed to be cracked to help loosen up his body. Then, grabbing his sword and placing it on his back, (Y/N) exited the room with the Kakushi scrambling out after him.

Once the two were out in the hall, (Y/N) hummed, spotting a new person from the outside of the building, hanging up some clothing on a drying line. She was someone his age, wearing the black uniform all demon slayers had on, only she had a white nurse uniform on at the front, her hair was black and styled into twin-tails thanks to the two small butterfly clips on her hair. It made (Y/N) stare down at his own butterfly clip on his uniform, huffing while closing his eyes, momentarily remembering Kanae while he turned on the spot.

As he disappeared around the corner, the girl hanging up the clothing perked her head up, hearing the footsteps, turning on the spot to see (Y/N). At first frowning and thinking he was an intruder, until her eyes went wide at seeing the peculiar accessory on the front of his uniform, making her mind begin working on identifying him.

Aoi: So that's... the boy that Miss Shinobu mentioned before, the one that Miss Kanae had very high hopes for as a demon slayer...

She kept staring at him as the boy headed for the exit of the mansion, being led by an angry Kakushi that seemed to be ranting, jumping and waving his arms at the boy who only seemed to be amused at the actions of the smaller individual. At the other end of the hall, all three were unaware of the peeking three pairs of eyes that were staring at (Y/N) as he exited. These eyes were much younger and filled with both curiosity and slight excitement at seeing the pin. However, all four curious individuals had to return to their usual activities as they watched (Y/N) and the Kakushi exit the mansion, slowly shutting the sliding door behind them.
