Mallory
Ecstatic.
That's how I'm feeling.
I've been thinking of the way I felt since I got on the plane yesterday. I've spent almost seventeen hours flying to where I am now, Georgia. As it's currently Saturday, my first day is Monday and I honestly can't wait.
I walk away from the airport and try to get myself a cab, but I don't succeed. Judas priest these American's really are hasty, a bunch of nitwits. After what feels like three hours, I finally get ahold of a cab. The driver looks at me, waiting for me to tell my destination.
"Oh, right. Uhm. Berry College, please." Emphasis on the please. The man snickers, in a mean way. I read that the ride is one and a half hours, so I'm guessing the driver is not too happy with that but gets him some money. I decide to shake it off, and I grab my book out of my bag.
It ends with us
I read the cover of the book. On the plane ride, I read one other book, that I had already started in Australia. I'm not a nerd, but reading is my favourite thing to do. Well reading and playing the piano.
Reading always made me dream, think about a better life. A wonderful life, in a wonderful world. But unfortunately for me, this world appears to be not so great. At least, not so great as she appears to be in books.
As for the piano, I love it. I learned to play the piano when I was 8. In Australia, there was this cute little bookstore with a piano. The owner is the sweetest man I've ever met. Mr Acker. When I ran into the bookstore for the first time, I saw the piano and I fell in love. Mr Acker had seen my face and he taught me the basics.
Mr Acker is like family to me, the closest what I feel like to having one, to be honest. A week before I went away, he turned 78. When I told him I got the scholarship, I promise I could see tears in his eyes. He was so proud of me. He helped me with everything, well, what he could help with.
I close my book, wanting to look at the pretty sunset outside. Back in Australia, I would go outside to a hill, that would look over the whole city to watch the sunset there. I'd stay there for hours, enjoying the pretty view and reading a lot. That place was my safe haven, my place.
"We're almost there." The driver suddenly says. Already? He looks at me through the mirror and he looks away when I nod.
"So, do you like being a driver?" I speak up. Stupid Mal, don't talk to strangers, ever. Stop it.
"No. But I have no talents, and I don't have a family to take care of. Pays the bills."
"How would you know you have no talents? Everyone is good at something. I'm sure you'll find what you're good at soon." He looks at me and he scrunches his face. He murmurs some mean words and I look outside again.
I see Berry College in the distance. Wow. It's even more beautiful than I had imagined. I didn't just want to go here because of the way it looks, but it really is the most beautiful place I've ever been.
The driver stops at the parking lot, waiting for me to pay and get out. I walk out of the cab and open the trunk to get my stuff out. The driver does this too, to help me. But probably just to speed up the process and get rid of me. He tells me the price and I pay him. Once he gets his money he races away, leaving me alone with all my bags.
"Hey, could you maybe help me get my stuff to my dorm, and help me find my dorm. I have no idea where to-" I got cut off by the person walking away from me. Okay, rude. I ask a few more people but they all seem to be deaf since they all just walk past me.
I shrug and try to grab all my bags, but I fail since my bags all fall onto the floor. I have 1 big suitcase with my most clothes in it. Three bags full of other stuff. My books and things for my room are being sent from Australia and they come in next week.
I put one of the bags on my suitcase and pull the other two around my shoulder, while I hold my handbag in my hand. Finally, the bags don't fall.
I walk to the dorm side of the campus, knowing where it is because of the pictures I've seen. There are different sorts of dorms. Seeing as I'm the scholarship student, I get the smallest room there is. There are 3 sizes, all in a different part of the dorms. I see a girl walking into the building too, so I decide to ask her.
"Hey Uhm, could you tell me where the small dorms are?" I ask shyly. She turns around and a smile turns on her face. She seems nice.
"Of course, here let me take one of your bags, they look heavy. Follow me." She is nice. I smile and follow her.
Once we've arrived, she asks for my key. I give it to her and she opens the door. It's bigger than I thought it would be. She hands me back my key and puts one of the bags on the floor, and I do the same.
"Thank you. I'm Mallory." I give her my hand and she takes it.
"Ariel. Nice to meet you." She smiles and I smile back.
"Thank you, for helping me."
"My pleasure. I have to go, but I'll see you around?" She says and I nod. She pulls me in for a hug. Wow, she seems so confident. Maybe not all Americans are nitwits. She walks out of my room and closes the door behind her.
I look at my bed, and I decide to make it first. I look for the bag with the fitted sheet, duvet cover and cushion cover in it. Once I made my bed, I look at the time and see it's almost 6 pm. Jeez, the time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it?
I grab my phone and see if there are any take out places nearby. I find a pizza place that also delivers. I look at their menu and see some delicious pizza's. I call the number and they pick up immediately.
"Hello, Mamma's pizza place, can I take your order?"
"Hi, could I get a pizza Quatro stagioni? And, get it delivered, please?"
"Of course miss. May I have your address?" She asks and I give it to her. "Alright, your pizza will be there in 30 minutes. Have a nice day!" She hangs up. I lay my phone on the bedside table and I open my suitcase to unpack.

On the left side of the bed, I imagine a big window instead of the shelf.
This is how I imagine her dorm room looks like ^
