I suppose that Eli told you about my friends, well, his friends too, attempt to get us together. God I was so annoyed with them.
I had known those girls for years, one since first grade and the others around third and fourth. I had followed along pretty easily for a while but I grew tired of their meddling when they started trying to control my life. They saw that Eli and I were getting close and decided we were meant to be. I wasn't so sure.
When I refused to even go near him, they went into chaos. Eli didn't say much, it was just like him to not be helpful, and I was left to defend myself against the cult that were my friends.
After the dust settled and Eli was appropriately paired with Christina, another girl in our group that was more mentally weak than I, things were different. I wasn't willing to be around Eli as much and he started discovering his true asshole potential. It was just awkward.
He even stopped calling me crazy girl.
"Hey Eli."
"Hi."
"How's it going?"
"It's okay."
"Cool."
"..."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"I'll just go then."
